Arab world condemns London blasts

Deadly blasts that rocked London's underground trains and a bus have drawn shock and sympathy from several Arab capitals - some of them all too familiar with carnage on their own streets.

Palestinian negotiator Saeb Erikat said: "We condemn with the strongest possible terms these explosions, and convey our sincere condolences to the British people and government."

Gulf states called the attacks
criminal and terrorist acts

Saudi Arabia, itself hit by a wave of attacks by suspected al-Qaida insurgents in the past two years, "strongly condemns" the blasts, said an official source.

Riyadh "reiterates that ... the international community must step up efforts to combat the terrorism scourge, which now threatens our security," the source said.

1. Well, so much for the right wing's whole...

"Arabs and Muslims need to openly condemn this stuff" talking point.

But nope - they'll still use it and regularly.

My favorite variation of it is this.

Conservatoid - "Look, if the Muslims really oppose terrorism, why don't they speak out against it?"

Liberal - "Well ."

Conservatoid - "I never heard those quotes before. Huh. Well they need to do better at getting their message out; why don't we hear these kinds of quotes. Why do they let terrorists be the face of Islam?"

Note how in this case it's not the "Liberal" media's fault for failing to report such costs; it's Muslim's fault for not projecting their message better.

I have some reservations for Saudi crocodile tears, but I have no reason to suspect the Palestinians and other Arab governments are not sincere.
