I Just Wanted To Thank All Of You That Stood By Andy During His Fight!

Many of you have been busy pitching in to help Andy out with periodic medical updates etc. I'm sure that was a big comfort to him. His work was inspiring as evidence by all those that helped out with donations or other efforts.

It was truly something to see how quickly we pulled together to help this fellow DUer even though most of us had never met him. It reminds me what a community DU really is. It gives me HOPE!

I will not name all of you for fear of missing someone. But, I'm sure Andy appreciated it and so did I.

You all know who you are and so do we!

8. Andy was supported by some amazing people

Andy was deeply grateful and touched by the outpouring of support from DU -- he had said so many times here and on Thom Hartmann's show.

The heroes in this story, his family and close friends, didn't just have to deal with the anguish of watching him suffer through a horrific illness, and ultimately losing him. They were subjected to ridicule and verbal abuse from certain people who are devoid of empathy and love. They suffered more than we'll ever know. I wish I could take away their pain; all I can do is offer them is my support, gratitude, admiration, and love.

11. trouble -- I wonder if we couldn't do something with this

great image of Ballot? In memoriam? A poster or something. Would you b willing to do something like that?

The image comforts me because it has everything in it -- what Andy loved, what he worked for. And it reminds me of the hope I had for him but also, the hope I have because of him.

I don't know if that makes any kind of sense. (Going back to the couch now. :hug: )

22. I made it

as a post card to send to Andy in the hospital. I made it from the little tiny cell phone photo of Andy's new little puppy he named "Ballot".

But in my card, he is made of only 'paper'... made from the PAPER Contstitution of the United States.

Paper. The Constitution is only paper. Andy wanted only paper ballots.

If you like it, take it and share it, if you think it tells Andy's message.

We could make stuff in Cafe Press or something and send any profits to Velvet Revolution, Divestiture for Democracy, or some like organization that Andy supported.

21. It was a true pleasure to help Andy when he needed it most.

While we can't do anything to stop some of the ugly things going on in America, it felt really good to help Andy. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Thanks to all of you who actually did the work in getting things started and to all the blessed DU'ers who contributed either with money or kind words of encouragement. I hope Andy realized that he was admired by more people than he thought, and I'm only sorry that he had to go through what he did with the truly evil people during his darkest hour. Remember, Karma is a bitch and they will get theirs either personally or it will happen to someone they love, if indeed they do love anyone.

24. Andy deserved all the help and support we could give him

He deserved all of it, and more. He was a tireless fighter for us, to see that our votes counted. The hateful ones that caused him and his loved ones such pain might do well to remember that his fight was for their rights, too.

I am a big believer in mind and body being so closely joined, that the misery those ghouls caused distracted him in the fight for his life. I realize that he was optimistic anyway, but surely they hastened his death by causing his surgery to be delayed, and all of the vicious, spiteful things they said about him.

All I was able to do was to send messages of love and support to Andy, so many of you did much, much more. There will be no more fitting tribute to him than to carry on his work in his name. I want to see the ones who hurt him slither back under their rocks. I can't begin to express my admiration for DU and all of you; you are all the greatest.
