The Big Dog is opposed to Iraq withdrawal deadline
ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Former President Bill Clinton says setting deadline for a U.S. withdrawal from Iraq would aid terrorists trying to destroy a growing democracy.

"They are dying beside us in the service of what they hope will be an independent country," said Clinton, speaking at the 2005 Aspen Ideas Festival on Friday night.

"I wouldn't give it up yet. I'd stick in there and try to make it work. And I wouldn't set a deadline either. I think that's a mistake. If we set a deadline, (the terrorists) will believe all they have to do is wait. So unless you know you can take out all these insurgents coming in from other countries ... you shouldn't set a deadline, otherwise they will wait us out and it would be demoralizing for the Iraqis," Clinton said in a speech at the Aspen Ideas Festival.

He noted 58 percent of Iraqis voted in their national election, more than in some recent U.S. elections. "It's clearly a legitimate process and the people want it to work, so I think we can try to make it work," he said>>>>snip.

Lapdog he is, lapdog he shall be called.
"The Leg-humper" has already been claimed by bLiar, so for Clinton I suggest, The Crotch Sniffer.
On second thought, maybe that should be The BUSH sniffer. Lately he's been sniffing around Poppy Bush in a way that would make a veterinarian blush to see.

6. He is opposing the DNC which demanded clear goals and timetables from bush
"Every day as Americans turn on their televisions and open their newspapers, they can see for themselves that the Bush Administration's rhetoric about the real situation in Iraq does not reflect the truth about the facts on the ground. The Iraqi insurgency has gotten stronger, reconstruction efforts lag behind and billions of dollars have been lost and still the President has not put forth a clear timetable of military and political goals, yet he continues to ignore these facts. It's time for President Bush to stop ignoring the facts, stop ignoring the concerns of the American people and parents of America, put forward a clear plan for success in Iraq.

DNC

so what do you call it
a disagreement within the party
or between the GOP and the DNC?

11. Guess I really...

...wasn't aware of all this. I don't know that setting a firm deadline is the answer, but we should at least be able to set up some schedule of downsizing over there. But we won't. We're setting up permanent bases.

As far as Clinton. Well, maybe he knows something we don't, but given a hard choice, I'd support the DNC policy.

5. Big Dog doesn't seem appropriate........
anymore. More like "little puppy" lately the way he's been following the Bush's script on Iraq.

8. The 'Big Dog' has seen his day come and go already. I think that
Bill Clinton's presidency occurred at a very lucky time for him. He benefited from a lot conditions, like the tech company stock bubble, that he had no control over but since it occurred on his watch he's gotten the credit.

I voted for him, twice. I was most certainly against the Ken Starr witch hunt because I thought the only person he was answerable to for the Monica fiasco was Hillary. But I was also angry that he was so stupid to be caught in a lie.

But now I am seriously starting to dislike the man. He was another one that found a way to get out of Viet Nam but is now a big advocate of staying in Iraq where someone else's kids do the fighting. I am of the opinion that if people here can call for bush**s kids to suit up and hit the sand dunes, so should Chelsea. She is no different. Now she may not support the war, but for all I know, neither do either (or one) of the bush** twins.

The one thing I like about all this is that everytime he says something like this, it makes it less likely that Hillary will be the nominee in 2008 (in my humble opinion).

10. Ya'll know I love the Big Dog.
Even went so far as to defend him when the Dems went numb in the 90s. But there are some things that Clinton does or says that may improve his perception of himself to the right-wing, but which deviates too far from reality.

Not setting a timeline is akin to saying that we will support Bush no matter how wrong he was or will be. THAT will not improve our standing in the global arena. We must recognize Iraq was a foreign policy failure that was orchestrated by a few traiterous Bush Administration insiders and allowed to happen by a conspiratorial media.

If the US continues to allow Bush to proceed untethered, it will indicate that no one in America is strong enough to stand up to him. We will prove that we are no better than a dictatorship. Our checks and balances are useless appendages.
