Does Bush's mouthing off about the "flypaper strategy" endanger us?
Edited on Sat Jul-09-05 02:47 PM by gulliver
Is it really stupid of Bush to go on national TV and say that we are fighting the terrorists "abroad" so we don't have to fight them here? Doesn't that translate into a challenge to terrorists to come to the United States?

10. Beat me to that thought
My analogy was that it wasn't flypaper but instead a trap that we were baiting with the lives of our servicemen.

4. I'm sure the people living "abroad" appreciate that statement as well.
Seeing as how they're the ones likely to find a war coming to their neighborhood soon...

5. Yes, it obviously pisses off our allies "abroad"
and challenges the terrorists to attack us "at home". Idiot.

6. Malignant bullshit
Not even internally consistant lying, that is what happens when sociopaths self destruct. They lose their own thread, they withdraw into indefensible fantasy, and demand that everyone else join them.

9. I don't see how anyone still falls for this.
But ** said it again in his radio address today.

How does having most of our military and many of our first responders bogged down and isolated in Iraq prevent any terrorist from anywhere from entering America with a suitcase bomb? I just don't get the connection. If anything, it seems like we are more vulnerable with the people who could protect us all in one place like that.

He might as well say that America is safe from Terror because "A" is so far away from "T" in the alphabet!

11. Bush's brain??
I'm surprised that Bush's brain would even allow him to talk like that. In the event there is another attack on American soil ( as some think there inevitaby will be), that rationale will come tumbling down, along with Bush's credibility (what's left of it). It would make him look absolutely stupid. If I were Rove, I would tell Bush to cut the crap about the flypaper thing. But, I'm not Rove - so I say, keep it up Dumb-Dumb.

12. Stephen Flynn said it is absurd to think we can "take the fight
overseas to the terrorists so we don't have to fight them here," in the Afterward of his book, America the Vulnerable. He was on MTP along with retired Adm. Loy discussing the likelihood of a terroirst attack on US soil.
