Birmingham, UK city centre being evacuated: security threat

West Midlands Police have warned the public of a possible threat to Birmingham city centre.

Thousands of people have been evacuated from the centre, and a force spokeswoman said no vehicles would be allowed past the inner ring road.

Police are now closing down the Birmingham Broad street entertainment zone and asking people to go home.

She said: "West Midlands Police are issuing a public warning to people who may be visiting Birmingham city centre tonight after they received intelligence to suggest a threat to the city centre.

I was telling my husband how proud I was of the Brits that they didn't freak like the Americans do, but just how much of this constant allert stuff can even they take before the whole world is running scared?

or some major shit is going down in england. Also being reported is that the death toll from thursday may be much higher - 50 people are still missing - and the bombs used, rather than being small were in fact so strong that NONE of the 49 recovered bodies have been identified.

Which reminds me - one of the photos from early on showed some poor fellow with his face wrapped in burn bandages. I found that quite odd as bombs usually cause shrapnel type wounds from flying debris, or you are very close and you get blown apart, but generally they do not cause burns.

Anyway it seems that the whole story of what happened thursday has not been told, and there is serious concern that this attack is not over.

The smirking rightwing assholes who were dismissing this attack as pathetic can just shut up now.
