I hate America
I'm the one all those freeptards are talking about. I despise what this nation has become. The good news, our constitution may one day be revived and take on the usurpers and grind them into theologic militaristic corporate dust.

What the "they hate America" crowd forgets is that this is an evolving nation. So sometime in the future, if things go my way, the freepanus will be depressed. And whenever freepfuckers are depressed, I'm happy.

1. Get your priorities straight -
I love America - I've lived almost everywhere, and this is my home. I'll never leave here again.

I love America, but I hate the corporatists who do their evil in America's name.

I think your choice of posts is very poor. Some lurking freeper is going to glom onto your post and say, "On the DU, you actually have liberal wackos saying that they hate America."

I share your alarm and dismay. I even hate the wackaloon right in the same way you do. But I for one would never express hatred of my country.

6. Point taken...
and I do respect it. The thing you have to look out for is that when you say "America", you mean everyone in it, as well as the natural wonders which lie inside of it. I hate the present course of America and its actions.

However, if people say that if you disagree with what is going on now, then you hate America, put me on that list.

45. I gotta tell you that I don't know what that means.
What's to hate? I am deeply ashamed of many of the things our government has done, especially to those in South and Central America and the Middle East and I can't stand some of the jingoism that passes for patriotism, but I have no idea what it means to HATE an entire country, especially one with so much to offer.

13. Conservatives love America they way a four year old loves his Mommy
And the only America they love is the one of the 1920's: when women and anyone other than white males were second class citizens. Though they may never come out and say it directly, conservatives would be quite satisfied if we could go back to Calvin Coolidge's America once again.

And they bitch and complain as much or more than we do about this country: Gays have "special rights"; too much sex on tv; college professors are "poisoning" the minds of our young people; drugs and crime are going to destroy this country; abortion is "infantacide", etc. Please.

14. I hate a lot of American culture, and the current administration.
American Culture is a really broad term, but there is a lot in it that I hate. I hate the rampant consumerism, the idea that "we" are better than everyone else, that USA owns the world, that if you don't think like everyone else, wear the right costume, speak the right words, have the same values you are bad. Form and style over function. Work hard for new stuff when the old stuff works fine, or would work fine if it were quality rather than disposable. Praise my "lord" or I will look down upon you. I can oppress you because I am better than you because I oppress you. On and on and on.

This is what I hate. And the current administration and their practices as well as many of the practices of administrations past.

25. Wait a minute...
America is more than the sum total of its laws and legislators. America is an ideal, a dream, a vision of the way things ought to be and could be in the future, a vision of a common brotherhood and sisterhood united in the pursuit of life, liberty, the pursuit of happiness, and justice for all.

In short, I love America.

31. FREEDOM!!!
Beauty!! I love America!!

My Grandpa stowed away on a boat from Facist Italy to come here and be a cowboy.
He became a cowboy. Rode the Pony Express from Dodge Ks. to Albequrque.

He fought for this country in WWI, he was in France, and watched his baby brother die on the same field, in an Italian uniform.
He also was mustard gassed, and had a steel plate in his head from a mortar.
He came back HERE!!

He wanted to do something about the Mafia, so he was an Agent in NY and Toronto, and helped get a biggie!

He wanted to raise a family, he settled down, married, had 4 kids, worked a 9-5, owned the neighborhood store, was a butcher.

He loved baseball, hot dogs and being free!!!

He had a beautiful garden, and he didn't have to worry about his children being kidnapped, or having to work like dogs in southern Italy for NO MONEY!

All for his kids were college educated.

I try to pass on his DEMOCRATIC FREEDOMS he so cherished.

for DECADES to other countries like Guatemala, Columbia, Panama, Indonesia, Jakarta, Venezuela, Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan, Haiti, Iraq, Iran and ignoring humanitarian needs in Africa, the Sudan, Rowanda and Darfur.....*sigh*

It's then very easy to understand why we are hated by the WORLD. Other peoples of the world are MUCH MORE involved in what governments do, theirs and ours, and know what's been done. Americans are blind, self absorbed, busy buying the next new gadget, the next new gas guzzling car and have NO CLUE what damage the U.S. has caused around the world. It's easy to understand your sentiments. I can't say I'm a PROUD American anymore. :(

Yes - this government is fucked up right now. But, we don't have to stand by and watch it happen. We do have a voice. That voice seems weak right now, but it's a shitload more than what other people have.

in your post. You think these things are going to sprout up magically as a product of your ennui and angst? Or anyone elses for that matter? Not likely. Action's the only solution. But I guess recognizing the problem is one step, but if you're unwilling (or too lazy to) act upon it then it's all moot.

49. The whole love and hate thing about America
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 11:09 AM by OnionPatch
Is just another instance of the right trying to make everything an absolute, trying to make everything black and white. Before you can say you love or hate America, you have to define America. That's no easy task. There are so many aspects of "America" that one can simultaneously love and hate it.

Personally, I love the values our country was founded on, (freedom of speech, equal opportunity, rule by the people and not an aristocracy.) I discovered not all that long ago, that America has not always been the shining beacon of hope and justice that I believed it was. And I hate that. But I still love the ideal. I still love that so many Americans WANT this to be America regardless of whether or not we have achieved it. I hate that so many are pushing us away from that idea in this current political atmosphere.

I am outraged everytime I hear a rwer call us the "hate America" crowd, or the "blame America first" people. For one thing, it's just plain stupid. Why would half the people in the country hate their homeland? That people buy this is nauseating. Why would we even care enough to say anything, if we hate America that much? And notice that "hate Republican politicians = hate America." What nerve. It can be argued that they are actually the ones hating America, because it's always been very American to disagree with politicians. Even up until the last president (Clinton) every red-blooded American was allowed to, even encouraged to confront the sitting president. Suddenly dissent is not allowed and we must love our politicians as if they themselves were "America." This is not American. This is fascism.

Try explaining all this to a simple-minded right winger. I just tell them, no, I don't hate America, I hate what you would have it become.
