That's It! No More MSM For Me....
God, I hadn't watched mainstream news in a long time, and thought, "what the heck, I'll see what CBS has to say..."
Well, in the space of about 10 minutes I was ready to throw something through my TV.
First they had a segment on the London bombing and said that it was probably done with military grade bomb explosive... I just yelled at the screen: "Gee, I wonder where they got that? Could it be all the MDX and RDX Bush left unguarded in Iraq?" Of course, they didn't talk about that at all. Just talked to "experts" trying to scare everyone that "Al-Queda is everywhere! Osama is under your bed!" (apologies to Michael Moore...)
But it got even worse! Then they did a piece on Judith Miller and the Cleveland Plain Dealer not running their two stories, because they're afraid of being prosecuted and going to jail.
I just yelled "News flash - you're involved with a crime like outing a CIA agent, and you'll go to jail! Chances are, the CPD isn't going to break any laws, so they have nothing to worry about!"
Then they showed a group of about 12 people close up (but not close enough) chanting "Free Our Press!" in Cleveland, and I just started yelling again - "It is free! But the press only has the same rights of speech that we have as citizens, for the most part!"
Did they address that? No - the blonde bimbo reporting just said, after talking to Miller's lawyer (!!!) that it is having a "definite chilling effect".
So by watching 10 minutes of CBS, I was essentially told - be in fear & let's get a traitor protecting a bigger traitor out of jail...
I've come to the conclusing I just won't be able to watch the news. It's setting me up for a mild heart attack at a young age...
Did anybody else see this crap? We have GOT to take back the media (or, I suppose, get in control of it for the first time). No wonder Americans are so brainwashed.... x(

3. Daily Kos; DU; Smirking Chimp; Michael Moore...
Google News (occasionally); Common Dreams; Truthout...
Friends and I sort of have a news thing going, too, where we'll send good articles back and forth...
I'm just amazed at what's on the MSM.... I guess I just expect more from the media... But i probably shouldn't. Oh, and I've been checking out Harry Shearer's "eat the press" on the Huffington Post... It's pretty good...

8. Times of London, Le Monde, Toronto Star....
San Fran Chronicle, a little Boston Globe, La Presse from Montreal, DU and Michael Moore's website. And then I use the links that DU and Michael Moore provide to see the horrendous things that the sheeple are doing, as reported by the MSM.

4. I tried CBS tonight...had your same reaction. Turned it off and was glad.
I don't watch it but do try to check in once in awhile just to see if maybe they've been pulled out of their sleep.... It gets worse instead of better. When Bush's polls dropped they dug in their heels and went full time "propaganda." There are a few little crumbs thrown our way..but you'd have to stay tuned and I'm not willing to do that.

Just checking gets me crazy.

7. They are all giving the London bombings the 24-7 9-11 coverage
The fact that there have been several days in post-invasion Iraq with higher civilian death tolls is an irony that escapes the MSM and the pigs that feed at their trough. Because a lot of English-speaking white people died in a developed country, the dead are somehow more dead than the thousands of innocent Iraqis who have died since we took over their country.

10. Would have loved to seen the coverage of woman and children;
huddled in houses during the "shock and awe" display...I guess brown skinned mothers don't grieve when their babies are killed.

9. Yup, I can't do it either.
Since I got XM and started listening to AAR I have not even heard NPR. Last night driving out of town with my husband who does not have satellite radio we listened to NPR. Man, even that shook me up, the subtle little innuendos! NOT again. Not for me.

11. When you are away from MSM and come back its startling

And you made a good analysis.

You should check back in periodically and view it with a critical eye.

I canceled my cable some time ago and the first time going to a friends place to watch it was astounding.

At first I got real pissed off about all the lying and omission (like you here) but after a while would go check it out just to gawk.

Now I'll go over and just repeat out loud to my friend.. 'he just lied.. ok, he lied again' then when they have people discussing anything political I will give a head count on how many are conservative and how many are liberal (its usually anywhere from 2/3/4 to 1 against liberals).

Just last week I surfed for just 30 minutes and there were 3 different abduction stories going. Told my friend that child abductions were way down the last 10 years.

This is what most people are being fed, so its good to check it regularly.

12. With DishTV
if you get an international channel you can cancel your basic package and you'll still have Free Speech TV and CCTV9 (Chinese TV English channel) in addition to whatever international channel you pay for.

14. Whoa! Whats that?

Maybe I'm not following you. Most places you cant do ala carte unless you first pay for basic. If you cancel the 'basic' package how can you have anything?

Also, does Dishtv work on a DirectTV dish or would you have to buy a new one?

15. I'll explain
I used to have Direct TV. I wanted to get French TV and DirectTV didn't have it so I switched to Dish. Yes the dish works for the domestic channels but I needed a DishTV receiver and a second dish to receive the international channel. After the Democratic convention I was so pissed at CNN and asked about cancelling my basic package. I had a contract that I had to finish out but once that was completed I was able to cancel my basic package and just receive my international channel and those domestic channels that are provided free of charge. I should add that in addition to the two I mentioned earlier there is another called Classic Arts Showcase that shows classical music performances. It is a la carte as far as additional international channels, just not domestic... I'm thinking of adding Telesud which is an African French language channel...

16. 2nd dish to receive the intl channels?

Sorry to sound like an idiot.

It makes sense you would need a new receiver for the Dish Network. But you have to get an extra satellite dish to receive the international channels?

19. It's not healthy to watch the media Zombies
You have to pretend it's a broadcast from the former Soviet Union. Laugh at the little puppets. Be amazed at the half-truths and spin. Ridicule the blatant propaganda.

And remember, John Roberts is a pretty boy who has to have done somebody in the White House. He is a true fuckpuddle.

20. C-SPAN had a BBC news feed following the bombing
I was watching it and once again, marvelling at the difference between their news coverage and ours. It's embarrassing I tell you. Our so-called news is a fucking embarrassing travesty. Thank gawd for the Internet because if not for that I wouldn't know a goddamned thing. And Air America. Did you hear Janeane Garofolo ripping into FAUXNews yesterday? It was a thing of beauty. Unfortunately, the average Amurkin will not benefit from her evisceration of the way they tried to suggest that "Terra" trumped global warming as a concern at the G8 Conference.

22. The local PBS Stations carry the BBC
and we have the BBC Channel on our basic cable......

I never watch the regular news channels......

There is no news there....

I have CNBC on during the day but that too is getting tiresome and biased toward full speed ahead....

So, I surf, read and watch the BBC....
