Candidate A says everything you want to hear but he'll lose in 2004
meanwhile candidate B is a more moderate, don't agree with 100% of what he says but he'll kick chimpy's ass in 2004.

who would you support in the primaries?

Dean is A and Clark is B.

2. I already asked myself this one
And Kucinich was Candidate A, and Dean was B. I'm a pragmatic sort of guy, so I'll vote Clark.

But since when has anyone at DU been pragmatic?

3. GENERIC candidate B!
That is, Dean is not necessarily A and Clark is not necessarily B, at least to me.

7. well Dean seems to be leading (despite the latest Newsweek poll)
Edited on Thu Sep-25-03 05:58 PM by private_ryan
and you can't deny that Dean is more to the left (at least he's been framed that way).

I also excluded the ones who really have no chance, we know who they are.

11. and why is that?
we can't discuss strategy anymore?
If you can't take that someone likes another candidate the DK you shouldn't get involved in discussions.

13. Because you are just spreading the lie that nobody but Clark can win
and you know that people will flame you for it. Hence, flame bait.

14. I dont think thats the point
in fact JVS youre a recent convert to our side IIRC right, what I think JVS meant was that if you look at things Kucinich is the liberal "rebel" your candiate A.

12. In that situation, most voters are going to vote for Candidate B
so, if you vote your conscience, it won't make a difference. That's sort of what happened when I voted for Jerry Brown over Clinton.

The problem is when you've been fooled -- when time passes and you realize that Candidate B was actually the flaming liberal cloaking himself in moderation, while Candidate A was the guy pretending he was liberal because that was the only way anyone was going to pay attention.

Of course, it might have been that Candidate A's presense was only so that Candidate B could appear to be moderate -- Candidate A's candidacy was meant to help B attract moderates and center-right voters. If that's the case, voting for A early helps B, so long as A doesn't win.

It's all very complicated.

22. I'm voting for
General Clark in the primary. My vote in the general election will go to whomever is the Dem candidate. After watching the debate I am more convinced than ever that ANY of these candidates would be so much better for the country and the world than shrub.

25. The question...
is essentially:
Do I vote for the candidate that I like, or someone else?

It's a PRIMARY! Vote for the one you want to win. Of course the candidate that you WANT to win but WON'T VOTE for won't win... if all his/her supporters are just like you.

Now, if your primary guy doesn't win, you compromise in November because I don't think that anyone wants Bush over any of the 10 dems.

Incidentally, I'm not for your choice A.

Kucinich is my guy.
