Conservatives piss and moan about this country as much or more than we do

They say that we hate America, that all we do is carp and complain about America. Indeed, many of us do spend far more time complaining and working to change things in this country. Flag waving and singing "God Bless America" never solved the problems of this nation.

And they bitch and complain as much or more than we do about this country: Gays have "special rights"; too much sex on tv; the "liberal media" is biased; college professors are "poisoning" the minds of our young people; drugs and crime are going to destroy this country; abortion is "infanticide"; the public schools are corrupt and inefficient; the federal government is too big and bureaucratic; pornography is legal; illegal immigrants are taking all of our jobs and living off of welfare; businesspersons are being harassed by all those mean government regulators; unions are destroying the economy; taxes are too high; Christians are "persecuted".

They dish it out just as much, if not more than we do.

The GOP has been with an exception of 8 years, in control of this country since 1980. They seem not to be able to look in the mirror and accept accountability and responsibility.

For two and a half decades, the entire Right-Wing/Neo-Conservative movement has been nothing but a self-righteous, power-trip orgy, for self-serving hypocrites who wrap themselves in the flag and biblical scripture in order to justify their total lack of responsiblity.

The end result? A poisoned planet and a human civilization on the brink of full-blown energy and food crisises, all stemming from our ludicrous dependency on an unsustainable resource to propel so much of what has become the basis of our society.

Vision? That would have meant sticking to President Carter's plan to wean the country from oil. Who knows where we would be today in alternative fuel and energy development, if only the Republicans had stuck to Carter's plan.

Charlton Heston and now Calif Gov -- da Gropinador.

Today in a "West Marine" Store this Conservative nut bag was going on and on and on to the clerk about his fantasy view of political history. How the above guys used to be democrats but saw the "light" and became GOPs.

I was going to keep my mouth shut -- and did a real good job of keeping my mouth shut -- until he started going on and on and on about the wonderful Governor of California.

Me: You mean that male chauvinist Pig?

He: You learned to say that in college -- those college teacher are all bad -- they teach you bad things.

Me: No I figure it out all on my own.

He: When I came back from 'Nam . . . bla bla bla

Me: I don't buy into that garbage -- I happen to BE a Navy Brat -- plus many of my college classmates were Vietnam Vets -- as was my father. (that statement always shuts them up -- I KNOW the military -- probably better than civilian life.)

Anyway he walks off --

Later the clerk said that he comes in every week and gives her a political lecture. She knows nothing at all about politics, but she said if she did she probably wouldn't believe in his sort of politics.

It is amazing how the right wing nuts are rewriting history -- and then blaming the colleges for outspoken uppity women -- I was this way long before I went to college.

Turns out that the clerk is also a military brat -- born in a military hospital, raised in the military. We both have a contempt for authority. My husband tells her that I am sort of an expert on politics and that guy would have been out of his league if he had continued. (I could have argued behavior genetics too!)

Most people in the US don't understand all the complexity of the current politics -- it really takes time to understand the depth of evilness of the GOP crime family. DU is a massive Political Science education -- many of us could go for a MA in PolSci in another year or so.

It seems that this is one trait that a huge majority of military brats share -- contempt for authority -- or issues with authority figures.

Anyway it was ironic that this conservative jerk was going on about the college professors -- and it turns out that many of the professors were moderates or conservatives when I was in college.

I just wanted to look at the sailing magazines -- NOT get into a political discussion. But it really makes me so angry when these conservative jerks turn the Calif Governor into a SAINT -- when we know he is a molesting bastard. GEE -- Clinton is so so bad -- when WE know what he did was with a consenting adult -- and that was the ONLY thing that fucking STARR could get him on.

One big advantage of being a military brat -- I can shut down the chickenhawks real fast.
