What time will Jebbie go on the air begging for federal assistance?
I'm betting within 30 minutes of landfall..

If he was a democrat, all gthe regulars would be on the air 24/7 demanding an accounting of the money he's gotten every year because he's such a bad governor. Cannot seem to budget for storms that are NORMAL..Ya see Jebbie, you PLAN for the worst case scenario, and when it's a light year for storms, you SAVE the extra money..

Jebbie's a regular welfare queen.. Reagan always loved to tell about the welfare queen who spent her cash on cigarettes, booze & cadillacs, and then had to beg the governent for necessities for the kids.. Seems like there's a lotta that going on in JebbieLand..

2. Sorry, can't agree. This is a major storm and where it hits will be
devistated. You can live in your red and blue world but I will live in reality where people need help.

6. I have no problem with helping people, but you cannot tell me
that Florida doesn't need an emergency fund..They always seem to be surprised when hurricanes hit the state, yet they allow building where it should NOT be, and don;t seem to set uch aside to help their own people.. Other states have income taxes, and have a contingency fund to help when disaster strikes..

California raises our taxes when we have big disaster bills to pay.. I am sure we get federal help as well, but not year after year because we did not plan. Of course who knows how any magic beans Ahhhnold has bought with our oney.. I guess we will find out when the fires start:(

BUT when money that should be set aside for THEM, gets doled out as patronage, and then Jebbie comes a'beggin', it pisses me off..Hurricanes should be a BUDGETED item, not a "surprise" every stinking year..:grr:

3. And tax free at that
Most people dont realize it, but they got a law passed after the four hurricanes from last year, that exempted that assistance from federal income tax. Not just in Florida but alos in Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana too.

5. Maybe not until Monday -
Sunday is traditionally a slow news day, and a lot fewer people watch the nightly network news on a Sunday. Best to save it for Monday, for the ratings.

I'm so freaking sick of hurricanes taking swipes at Florida, but not nearly as sick as I am of Jeb's monotone, fake "I-care-about-Floridians" photo op bullshit. Today, I drove past the sea of temporary trailers in Punta Gorda, row upon row, still there from last year's hurricanes... still very much occupied. Wonder how they all felt in their state-issued tin boxes, anxiously watching to see if Dennis would pay them a visit? No, actually, I think they were probably hoping Dennis would come thru, just so they could have another chance to have their pictures taken with our great governor... :sarcasm:

11. This time FEMA had better check the address of those people
filing claims. There shouldn't be anything outside of the Panhandle.

13. I live in Florida..........
This state is a mess..... They are asking for 27.7 million back that they gave in payments from last season. Some of the money went to people that didn't even have any damage, and then they over paid legitimate claims sometimes as much as double in some instances. What's really sad is that the people that were over paid had no idea that they received too much, but they are still responsible for paying the money back.

15. I live in Florida also. I have seen them all since Diana on. I have
never, never seen FEMA act like it did under Ivan. They went house to house begging people to take money here. Claims were paid out at a drop of a hat. Renters got property claim money. Means testing seem to be out.

They were giving away water, ice and MRE's when we had power.

I kept telling people, don't get used to this, it will never happen again.

If your house was 50% damaged, you have to bring it up to coastal standards. They gave a grant for that (above the insurance money.) I read in the NWFL Daily News that coastal residents are angry because FEMA won't demolish their houses, cart away the debris, and build them a new one. (It would only add 90-100K per grant.)

During Opal, we had nothing. FEMA and the Red Cross couldn't get here from there. All services were based north of the Choctawhatchee Bay. We, the old fishheads, got out and helped our neighbors remove trees from their roofs, Ernie at the Village Market gave us water to distribute. The volunteer fire department got food from the grocery stores and set up distribution. We removed branches from power lines and the electric company boys from Rockingham County got us back on line within a week. Pico Electric out of LA sent a mile long convoy to help. It cost, but we pulled together.

That was only 10 years ago. Today, I don't look for that kind of community involvement. We have lost a lot as a society.

16. Has Gov. Fathead been spotted at all? Last year he was all over
the place re: evacuation and preparedness.

Is he still too busy pouting about the Schiavo decision(s) to show his "concern"?

Damn non-election year hurricane(s)!

18. Fascists only hate federal assistance when someone else needs it.
But they will always gladly accept it when they need it, even though they voted against it.

This is the universal republican philosophy: "I got mine, and I'll do my damnedest to see that you don't get yours."
