Miller afraid to testify, am I going nutso?
I swear I read on Thursday that her lawyer said she was afraid to testify, or that these people were very powerful, or something to that affect. Did I dream it? I can't find any article that says anything like that. I can practically see the quote in the article in my mind. Can't find it anywhere.

2. "The government is too powerful."
Yeah she said that.. to her the first amendment is a shield that protects journalists from the consequences of aiding criminality, because they're more vital to the republic than anyone else.

6. Thanks for that
At least I know I'm not totally nuts. Do you remember who had that?

4. i`ve been following the miller story for some time now
and have not run across that statement. i do think she and her newspaper handlers are involved with the whitehouse to produce stories. the big problem is the a times newspaper editor calling the saudi charity in chicago and asking them about a raid that hadn`t happened yet...someone in the whitehouse(?)may tipped the paper that it happened. this was fitz big case in chicago that lead to only trivial convictions.the times and miller do not want to talk about this...

5. Only in a few newsfeeds
I don't think any blogs picked it up, I didn't even post it. The G8 summit, Bush falling off his bicycle, the possibility of Rehnquist retiring, all of that seemed more important than the one statement. It seemed to me it was in an article about her being in jail and making a few statements about that and her lawyer making this other statement. But now I can't find it at all.

8. It just showed up in the other thread
CBS News Correspondent Jim Stewart reports Miller said: "I won't testify. The risks are too great. The government is too powerful."

9. Thank you so much
I finally blogged the Corn post without it, I was thinking her lawyer said it, not another reporter. The thing is, if she's really afraid to testify, then maybe she was afraid to write the story for the same reason.

10. Not what she meant.
She was talking about government in the larger, abstract sense.

Unintentionally, she told the truth, however.
