Why Right Wing Blogs Don't Allow Comments

Little Green Footballs, which is the only of the five most trafficked right-wing blogs that allows comments (Instapundit, Powerline, Michelle Malkin and Hugh Hewitt do not allow comments) showed why yesterday. Via Tbogg and lowkell, here are just a smattering of what has been written at Little Green Footballs since yesterday:

* "IMHO, they should go house to house interrogating every Muslim about what they know and when they knew it. And then kick every last one of them who is there illegally out of the country. And then decide if any of the rest of them deserve to stay. Now, if only Israel would do the same thing after its terror attacks.... "

* "Can we eradicate Islam now, please?"

* "If there are no Arabs there are no attacks. How many more need be sacrificed?"

* "It is now time to force muslims to make a choice: Live peacefully or die. I prefer the latter."

* "We need to stop fucking with these people and kill every one involved. I mean anyone with prior knowledge, anyone who payed for it, and anyone who supported it. Regardless of nationality."

* "If its Islamic it will probably blow up. All Islamic get full body searches with VERY high intensity X-rays ."

* "The best way to deliver those high intensity x-rays is through some W76 warheads at around 100 kt a piece. It will be easier to give a full body search after that."

* "Britain should END ALL ISLAMIC IMMIGRATION NOW....Continuing to welcome the enemy into your country is insane."

The calls for genocide and apartheid are flowing freely. There is a reason why blogs like Instapundit and Powerline do not allow comments, and why Time magazine would give its "Blog of the Year" award to Powerline even though Free Republic actually "broke" the CBS story. There is a concerted effort on the part of the right to prevent this sort of overt racism and fascism on the right from being given any sunshine. These, however, are not isolated comments. They are numerous and they are appearing on the second most trafficked right-wing blog in the country, and by far the largest right-wing blog that allows comments.

It's time for the sun to shine in.

they pick a group, and blame all the ills in the world on them. Guess it won't really be comparable to Nazis until they've killed a few milion. Guess it's somehow unforseen by some that they're planning on the killing.

Sad and not uncommon, unfortunately. They have to find hate in everything they do. What must it be like to live in such a state of ignorance? I shudder to think of such a thing.

3. replace the word "Muslim" with

"Black" or "Jew" or "Catholic", and you'll have an historic record of intolerance and racism in this country.

Might shock some of these people to find out that most Muslims in this country are peaceful and law abiding- and I bet their percentage of peaceful people is higher than the percentage of Klansman who are so.

It's not just that they're trying to create an illusion of universal agreement with their positions. It's also to keep their biggest fans from showing their true ugliness on air.

I heard a friend of mine, who is pretty right-wing, say some awful things about Mexicans and so on. He works in Homeland Security as an investigator and does a lot of stuff with narcotics along the border. Before that he worked with Border Control and Customs. He told me that we should shut the border down completely, bring the military down, and shoot any Mexican who comes near it. Now this is an otherwise rational, and truly good guy. He's probably my best friend right now, he's generous and everything too. But, some of his beliefs are completely nuts. Now, I imagine many of these people here are good people in many ways, but inside they just have this xenophobia and outright hatred for anything or anyone different. I find many of these people fear change. That they have a simplistic view of the world and only see things in black and white. They fit into society well, they look normal, sound normal, may be otherwise good people.

But underneath....

It's ugly.

And, I'm not at all comfortable knowing a great many people with these views are out there. I think it is prevalent. I don't like the idea that the person sitting next to me on a bus, a person who serves me my food in a restaurant, or who gives me my annual check up, might be somebody who supports the genocide of a whole race.

The right-wing has some serious problems. If you think we've past the era of Jim Crowe or slavery in this country then think again. If you think that we are too good of a society and too modernized to support genocide or internment then think again. This last four years has been bad, but I think it's going to get a whole lot uglier before it'll ever get better. We have a poisoned segment of our society that will ensure that.

8. But the RWers don't see the hypocrisy

of their own leader who kisses up to Saudi Arabia and allows open borders and outsourcing of jobs to the 3rd world.

It's their party that encourages terrorism (by initially sponsoring the mujahadeen in Afghanistan, letting 9/11 happen, kissing up to the Saudis, and by attacking the wrong country).

I agree that conservatives are sick people, but you don't need to pick-and-chose comments from RW sites to prove this. Look at the way they persecuted Andy or threaten Liberals; they are immature bullies who believe that useless members of society that must be purged in order to purify the country. Given the chance, they would "cut down the tall trees" Rwanda-style.
