Dennis is predicted to go right over my parents' house...
on Mobile Bay. Are they leaving? Of course not.

Clearly, there are no fools quite like old fools (in the midst of a hurricane)

1. geez, I hope they end up ok
I'd probably be too lazy to leave my house. Not that I'm brave or anything.

2. I think you'd leave if you've ever been through a major hurricane.
Lazy or not, once you've been through a category 4, or near category 4 storm, you wouldn't ever do so again--unless you are nuts.

3. I'm further up, in Central Alabama.
Hope your parents are okay--have they taken all precautions (shuttering windows, getting in plenty of clean water, etc). The wind is starting to pick up a little here now, but so far it isn't too bad. My prayers are with your parents. :hi:

4. Thanks everyone!`
Take care Central Alabama--this one looks like it will bring you a great deal of rain.

They know the drill, so they have boarded up and have water and supplies, and have charged the cell phones, etc. Still, I wish that they would have evacuated.

Take care and good luck!

7. Thanks.
If they've taken precautions, I'm sure they'll be okay. Though I know you wish they would have evacuated, those older folks tend to do what their instincts tell them is right--and their instincts usually are right!

5. I hope they're out of the surge region
Huge difference between being hit with wind and being hit with water.

6. Please remind them not to walk outside for awhile afterwards...
The two deaths we had here from Hurricane Claudia were after the storm when folks went outside and large tree limbs fell on their heads causing traumatic and fatal brain injury.

*sigh* This makes me want to cry. I hope they're OK. Where are you? Are you close enough to drag their asses outta there? Sometimes we kids just have to teach our parent's a thing or two. :)

10. Thanks for you thoughts...
They are older with some health problems and are worried about not being able to get back home (while I on the other hand am worried about whether they will still have a home). Sadly, I am 700 miles away. Of course if the situation was reversed, they would be demanding that I leave!

Thanks again for your well wishes.
