Do you believe in your heart that if God was going to destroy Washington
unless we could find ten honest rightous people, could we save Washington DC. I don't think so. I think America has been corrupted beyond any redemption just as God thought Soddom and Gamorah was and dealt with them.

2. America has many, many honest righteous people - both left and right.
They've just been systematically discouraged from participating in the public life. The whole process of political campaigns has been corrupted by one thing:

MONEY

The only way for real people to take back the government is to have exclusively public financing.

Free Participation = growth.

As a teacher, I usually see things in terms of the rich emiprical information people need in order to make mature free decisions about things like "Religion" and Economics. It appears to me that the zeitgeist mitigates against that somewhat, sometimes strongly, sometimes less strong, but almost never weakly. The fuel of our own zeitgeist is money.

I have been thinking favorable of public financing. Though I've heard it scoffed by people I respect, I am going to talk about it more, to find out more. This is something we should at least give serious consideration. Especially, if there is ever any great change of Tax Code, like trash what we have now and build something better, then would be a good time to begin different public financing for political campaigns, not the system we have now.

4. Absolutely...
end private campaign donations, create a cable channel devoted to campaigning, and allow ALL candidates an equal chance to be heard.

10. Lots and lots and lots of small Congressional districts (< 50,000)
This is not my idea. It came from Ivan Itkin, the former Democratic leader in the Pennsylvania General Assembly.

Itkin used to have his Sunday Brunch brainstorming sessions at local restaurants (Gullifty's, Polonsky's, Poli's) - and small districts - too small for tv or major newspaper campaigns - was his thing.

He liked 50,000 - because that's the size where you know everybody in the neighborhood -- and they know you (Fred Rogers and Chef Don Brockett and Willie Stargell were among his constituents).

Here in California - 380,000 in an Assembly District and term limits -- you never know your assembly person -- it's all about fund raising.

Big districts and expensive campaigns are the problem.

journalists, and other lackeys and hangers-on.

As of the census of 2000, there are 572,059 people, 248,338 households, and 114,235 families residing in the city.

Many of them could be, and probably are, honest and righteous. They have no more to do with what goes on in the government than an ant does with the weather. They're just trying to survive or get by.

13. You could very well be correct
Maybe mentioning God especially from someone who has no belief in God is inappropriate but I get so tired of the same old Bush* bashing all the time. I like to explore other areas of interest. Probably should be in the lounge but a lot of other religious material is in GD. I feel in my heart that America is corrupt and by America I mean the people. I see the corruption daily on TV in the sitcoms and read it on these boards daily. I know I can be a better person and doubt I could be held up to God as a completely rightious person. I have done and said things I am not proud of as I believe most if not all Americans have. It is my opinion that it is getting worse and not better. Corruption and perversion are spiraling out of control with a cheerleading section. More than half of respondants to a new Zogby Poll say that even if Bush* is proven to have lied to start his war they would not want him Impeached. I don't find those people rightious at all. America has sunk a long ways in just my short time on this earth.

9. they actually found Soddom and Gammorha, they were destroyed by a huge
earthquake that created "Liquefaction" and the cities simply sank into the quicksand and flowed into the sea. the next day there would have only been smooth dry sand, no evidence that anything had ever been there.

that probably shocked the next group of partiers to arive.. and fueled the Torra thumpers diatribes

they were seaports where a dried petrolium was collected on surface of the dead sea, the stuff was worth more than gold.. the communities thart built up along the shore catered to the wealthy traders, but it probably wasnt as bad as the Torra thumpers made out it was.

11. Did they find a large column of salt there as well?
How could they know with any certainty what cities they found if indeed they found any at all? Supposedly the two cities were destroyed by fire and brimstone not sinking beneith the sands. Either the story is correct or it isn't. Why should we believe there were two cities destroyed but not by the methods described? If we believe part of the story why not all of it?

15. there is great archaeological evidence and historical record... It was a
national geographic documentary.. they found the fault and could determine the earthquakes scale, they did tests with models, it was all very well done.

How come the god of Abraham and the god of Jesus are so different.??

maybe because Abraham's god was a schizophrenic delusion.

the only people these days that hear voices telling them to kill their children are mentally ill and usually schizophrenic.. :tinfoilhat:

and Schizophrenia runs in families and Mohamed also heard voices and Literally "Channeled" a spirit Allah..

jesus didn't come from the blood line of Abraham and avoided the Schizophrenic genetics, Abraham's 80 year old wife faked her pregnancy to keep that F'n foreign slave bitch from becoming #1 wife and had another woman give the baby as hers.. providing a better position in life for it..,

the slave woman and her bastard child were cast into the desert. her child's prodigy would produce the prophet and provide the genetics to have him hear voices.

12. I believe in God
but I don't believe God will destroy anything. I also believe in the theory of God giving us free will. I do believe that God won't intervene should we continue to destroy Washington (as well as the rest of the country, as well as the entire earth) as we have been.

I also believe that we should change the spelling of "believe" to 'e before i' so I won't have so many corrections to do after a post like this one!

14. All ten would be democrats!
No, actually, there are probably more than ten Reps and Dems that would qualify. But none of them would be outspoken evangelicals. In fact, I would think that the more they proclaim their righteous purity the less righteous they'd be. A truly righteous person doesn't need to stand on the mountaintop and proclaim it to the world.

One person who comes to my mind when I think about this is Jimmy Carter, with his soft-spoken evangelism which stresses action rather than rhetoric. There are undoubtedly others with this trait in DC, we just don't hear about them because they don't screech their righteousness at the top of their lungs.
