The situation in Iraq is now officially out of control.

Allawi is calling it the first stage of a civil war.

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=102x1615305

The current government is calling for help from its neighbors, warning them that the violence will spread across borders.

And now French media are reporting that the bombs used in London are like the ones stolen from Iraq--full military munitions--at the start of the war.

2. What may come out of it though
is a muslim "republic" or something like it - uniteing the ME states (other than Israel) and making them a power to be reconed with (as well as the home of most of the world's remaining fossil fuel).

that we were right.

It feels like ____ to watch this whole thing unfold.

28. And not a peep from MSM, as far as I know.
To the average American getting news via television, not much is happening.

3. Fierce clashes in city of Talafar in N. Iraq
http://www.kuna.net.kw/Home/Story.aspx?Language=en&DSNO=750462

Don't know how reliable KUNA is, but http://icasualties.org/oif/ has this story posted on its site:

BAGHDAD, July 9 (KUNA) -- Fierce clashes erupted on Saturday between US and Iraqi forces on one hand and unknown gunmen on the other, in the city of Talafar, which is located northwest of Mosul, witnesses told KUNA.

The clashes had started earlier today, which involved the use of tanks, armored vehicles, and helicopter gunships, said the witnesses.

From PNAC, to Fox news, to Dick Cheney w/ oil maps of Iraq on his
desk in March of '01 (Paul O'Neil), to Chalabi, and to that tool bush ....

In Feb. of 03 I heard an ex CIA chief from Iraq say:
1. Sure we could be in Baghdad in under a week
2. 103 different sides in Iraq
3. Iraq was drawn on a map by the brits in 1920
4. Not unless we gave real power and hope to the Iraqis quick
the situation would become hopeless PDQ
5. He would not wish governing Iraq on his worse enemy ......

NPR then had on a * talking head who said the guy just had
"sour grapes."

8. It hasn't been in "control" since the first GI crossed the border.
It's been a fiasco since ShruBubbya decided to expand his jockstrap with the blood of Iraqis and GIs.

It's only going to get worse. The whole region is unstable and a lot more unnecessary blood is going to be spilled in the name of patriotism and religion.

Rummy was being optimistic when he said, "12 years".

10. "But NOBODY could EVER have predicted blah blah blah blah"
All those warnings before the invasion said all of that, plus most of everything that has occurred, was likely.

But the Bushbots continued to be surprised, again and again, by events.

16. So what does that make us... thinking persons who KNEW where
all this crap was headed... straight down the toilet.... what does that make us? Seers? Visionaries? Or just people who have seen the past and know that repeating it, while expecting different results is the definition of insanity.
