OK, dammit, enough is enough
Just got yet another email regarding the London bombings from the fellows who email me the cream of the conspiracy-theory crop. This one isn't asking questions or demanding answers, but making a flat-out declaration. The title is 'Tony Blair Ordered the London Bombings' and is written by someone named Michael James. The article speaks from a first-person perspective, as if Jones was Blair and could see out of his eyes. Here's a snip:

As J-boy vanished into the back seat of an Astra Cabrio before being
driven to an MI5 safe house, Tony Blair entered the foyer of the
Gleneagles Hotel with a smile on his face. He knew that the first
three bombs had been detonated just split seconds apart. Mentally, he
quickly ran through the lines he had prepared the night before. He
would say something Churchillian with an allusion to the wartime
blitz and the unfailing courage of Londoners. It would be a bravely
defiant speech. Nobody would suspect that the bombings were his own
handiwork. Still, until such time he would have to play dumb and wait
for Jonathan Powell or Ian Gleeson to brief him officially. Powell,
he knew, had not been informed, but would know soon enough once John
Scarlett had apprised him of the matter.

No, I'm not going to post it all. Anyone who wants to read it can PM me and I will send it to you later tonight, after I get back. Yes, this is a post on the fly, but I want to get this off my chest.

I have become more and more convinced over the last few years that there is a small, dedicated band of people out there who concoct wild-ass theories in order to deliberately discredit legitimate questions and investigations.

For one example: It isn't bad enough that forty zillion legitimate questions about 9/11, Taliban/Unocal collaboration and all those warnings continue to go unanswered. We also have to swim through nonsense about missiles being fired from the underbelly of one of the planes to hit the building before the nose of ther aircraft made contact.

Remember 'Forbidden Truth,' the excellent book on 9/11? Remember how another book came out of France not long afterwards, and was the birthing bed for most of the really stupid claims about 9/11? You think that was an accident?

I believe there are people out there looking to screw up legitimate lines of inquiry, and I also believe there are people out there who know they can make gobs of money by telling people their worst fears are true. I believe too many people are willing to buy into worst-case scenarios too easily.

Don't be someone's sucker. Don't be a useful idiot.

2. Uh, Will,
the admins have (rightfully so) been deleting London conspiracy threads from this forum in the last half hour or so- they get deleted almost as fast as they are posted.

Thanks for saying it. I do wonder if they'll pull your post as well, since they've been pulling so many of the conspiracy-related posts. :D

3. Yeah, but they keep popping up
along with the threads about there being more dead soldiers in Iraq than reported, despite the fact that this myth has been exploded three hundred times.

This is why I gave up on looking into the 9/11 questions. The whole thing got taken over by nonsense, and there was no way to make an analysis without getting attacked by the robot/space alien/flying missile people.

the 9/11 commision never addressed the robot/space alien/flying missle people. They work for the CIA and look like Doris Day. There are British films of flaming lemon pies hitting the towers. How do you explain the lack of discussion on FOX about THAT?

That bitch is responsible for more evil and strife in the world than all other space aliens combined. The fact that Fox and CNN won't touch this story is positive proof that there is a cover-up. Hell, they are probably in on it!

4. You could well be right
I've often wondered if it's just a case of 'the best thing about the web is that anybody can participate...and the worst thing about the web is that anybody can participate'...so we hear from all kinds.

Or it may be just information overload. So many types of media available to access, plus everyone's point of view....and it just becomes noise finally.

But I've noticed lately that it doesn't take very long for even the simplest most straight-forward item to become so overlaid with theories, embroidered versions, exaggerations, and outright lunacy...that it's hard to tell anymore what the original basic story even was. And of course the colorful ones get more attention than just dull dry facts.

No matter what it is...the real story soon gets buried under landfill

They're very good at it. It works the same way as agents provacateur -- delegitimizing a movement from the inside.

We should remain open to all theories that MAKE SENSE and have EVIDENCE to back them up. Unfortunately it's easier to jump on theories that satisfy our imaginations and paranoia. I **love** conspiracy theories, and read about them avidly, but we ought to refrain from repeating them unless we there's evidence to back them up.

The timing could have not been better. Mr.Busted Jr. and Mr. Blair tanking in the polls. Of course, the G8 meeting 500 miles north on the same island. The only thing I have read that are concrete is that the bombs had timers, a web site saying the Muslims did it belongs to a U.S.A. pron site that hi-jacked the domain name and a lot of people shamefully enough were killed or injured. Of course the camera on the bus was working at the time of the explosion (bummer). LIke I said the timing could not have been better for mass hysteria.

blew up the trains and bus in London in order to get their poll numbers up, or to detract from the DSM, or to cover up for the Plame leak, or in order to privatize Social Security, or to enable them to drill for oil in Yellowstone, or to... well, you get my drift. They never said it. The "media" say enough stupid things, "i.e. ... blow up Paris and nobody'd care," without attributing this kind of crap to them.

Maybe, a lot of real stories get ignored because there's so much bullshit floating around, it easier for the media to stay on the beaten path.

otto skorzenzy was a real tough guy, smart and deadly, but he wasted his energies fighting for the grunting pig, same with the 911 terrorists no matter the goddam logistics (god's a nazipoo? ok ok)...it's concern about life and justice and great whales and sharks and domestic pets and earth sky music and truth etc...gandhi wasn't a perfect man by any means, neither was hunter thompson or che or rfk or martin luther king or john lennon: in person they might even display nasty bad tempered manners and say immoral things etc, meaning they human having a bad mood, but! compare them to prescott bush or cecil rhodes or henry stanley or howard hughes/bill gates or rudy guliani or general swartzkoff/rambo etc, if you will. >Someone does these terrible things, and in the case of ted bundy, or charlie manson, maybe society should look at itself, how it trains the kids, but in the case of political terror, the first item should be is to assure that the potential perps aren't in control of the police and the news reports!...bush was not elected in nov 2000...meaning he has never had a shred of legal authority...why is anyone getting tied in knots over the recent antics of the kgb who work for him?
power isn't invisible, not how it touches life. there are 6 billion people on earth, and the power that affects them is easily tracked...the muslim 'terrorists' simply aren't in the same league moneywise, which is measure of power, as the busheviks/nazipoos and so on...it's bushinc that threatens us, cuz they have the power, and only they

44. Good points. This is how it works:
legitimate questions and serious inquiry get shouted down by and conflated with hysterical claims that have no credibility.

We don't know yet what happened in London. Everyone who says they do - everyone - is promoting the worst kind of conspiracy theory: baseless assertion to push an agenda. Zarqawi did it! or Blair did it! At this stage, they're both bullshitting.
