The LA Times is one of chimpie's biggest critics and I dont believe what they are saying is completely off base.Red staters may see this as justification for his actions and might boost his falling numbers with people that voted for him.He got elected on a platform of fear.More fear might give him a temporary boost.I dont believe it was one of those "ra ra" articles

I turned on CNN and got all hurricane, all the time. Besides, this could just as easily backfire on *. Another terrorist attack and he still does nothing to shore up security or make the borders any safer. I wouldn't bet the farm on a lasting bounce.

Look how hard it was to claw out from under the "popular war time pres" junk- He's been in the low forties for some time now. In a 24/7 news world that should be a marathon of "The Fall of Bush" stories.

Beyond that, the premise of this piece is just wrong. It assumes GOP strength on fighting terrorism and that just has *NOT* been the reality.

23. I take some comfort in the Zogby numbers

42% of the people, when polled, said that * should be impeached if it was found that he was lying. There has been almost no perceptible mention of impeachment in the MSM at all. And still this thought managed to permeate the public consciousness. That is significant.

I think the people know they have been sold a bill of goods by a master deceptor. The American people are not stupid and they should not be treated as if they are by any politicos or by the news media. They are smart enough to figure out that some wars are worth dying in and some are not. They want to believe that the Prez will do the right thing and will give him an inordinate amount of rope, but they also know that eventuallly that much rope can also hang someone.

I have faith in the people. That's why I'm a Democrat (and a beliver in democracy to boot!)
