Looks like XM still breaks up AAR with
Ed Schultz, Alan Colmes short changing the Minority Report, Randi Rhodes, and Mike Malloy:

http://www.xmradio.com/programming/channel_page.jsp?ch=167

Isn't tomorrow the day when AAR leaves Sirius?

Sure hope Sirius has liberal content to replace them

2. 2 hours of Randi missing, Malloy on tape delay....
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 09:53 PM by Rosco T.
ALL of Rachel Maddow
ALL of Morning Sedition
ALL of Jerry Springer
ALL of Al Franken
ALL of Majority Report (not 'short changed')
ALL of Mike Malloy (on a tape delay)
ALL of Eco Talk
ALL of Ring of Fire
ALL of Laura Flanders
ALL of Kyle Jason
ALL of Politically Direct
ALL of Steve Earl
ALL of Chuck D

AT PRESENT -2 hours of RANDI... (operative word, AT PRESENT). Sometimes you just have to be patient..

I refer you back to this quote from another DU'er

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=1741150

"Just talked in person to the COO of AAR about XM.

This was at the Atlanta Democratic Meetup with Mike Malloy broadcasting the local event. He said that as of July 17th, XM would switch to Full AAR programming. No Colmes or Schultz to interrupt Randi, The Majority Report, or Malloy."

They gave James Dobson his own damn channel!

4. We're sticking with Sirius and their channel "Talk Left"
and we're NOT switching to XM, even though the only reason I initially got satellite radio was AirAmerica.

10. I'm not going to send them money to subsidize hate radio
Especially if I'm going to be paying to subsidize a hate radio channel I don't ever intend to even listen to.

I already pay for enough televangelists and home shopping I don't want on cable.

Sorry, but I'll be like that old fuddy-duddy who refuses to buy a touch-tone phone or a color TV if I have to.

I'm not paying someone to transmit Dobson.

15. You're paying SIRIUS to transmit FOX, Hannity, Ingram, Liddy, et.al..
so that kind of hate is ok for you???

deal with it, if you force one off the air, then they can force what YOU WANT TO HEAR OFF THE AIR.

14. Don't care one whit.
I made an initial investment with Sirius--portable car setup and the boombox, and even bought the same setup for my Dad for Christmas.

Then AirAmerica kicked Sirius to the curb.

I'm not throwing my initial investment in the equipment down the drain and my Dad and I both like "Talk Left" as well as the other Sirius Channels.

I don't give a rip what AirAmerica and XM do at this point.

16. ahh... a "Don't Confuse Me With Facts" person. n/m
you would rather listen to a chopped up channel than realize that

SIRIUS SUBSCRIBERS ARE NOTHING SPECIAL.

Programming changes are made, happens all the time, shows/channels come and go. SIRUS had ZERO responsibility to you to keep on a channel or program. You pay to keep the signal on. Period.

AAR had to make a business decision, the did what they did to keep the message out there.

18. You said "SIRIUS SUBSCRIBERS ARE NOTHING SPECIAL."
Fine, I'm sure AirAmerica feels that way and programming changes are made all the time. No big deal to them.

But it's MY MONEY that I spent from MY HOUSEHOLD and I happen to believe that is IMPORTANT ENOUGH.

If you are the type of person who represents XM Radio on this topic, then I know FOR CERTAIN I've made the right decision in staying with Sirius.

6. Bovine Stuff. Prove it.
It's already well debunked that Clear Channel, et.al. do not have any ownership of XM.

if you check on www.buyblue.org, you'll see SIRIUS is considered LIGHT RED.

if you go here http://www.opensecrets.org/pacs/index.asp you'll find that XM's PAC is 2:1 DEMOCRATIC in their contributions..

XM is far "BLUER" that Sirus ever thought of being...

8. XM carries Dobson. That's enough reason for me.
Carrying Dobson and Dr. Laura pales in comparison to anything else they could possibly say or do.

I'm not going to argue that you're wrong.

I'm just saying this is how I feel about it.

Good, because I'm not.

You maintain your opinions, but watch how you throw slime.

AAR wanted to be paid (they had been giving the feeds for FREE).

SIRIUS had already BLOWN 500 million on Stern, NFL, Martha, NASCAR, etc. and wouldn't negoiate.

XM stepped up to the plate and made them an exceptional offer.

19. Well, I've said this before....
.. I was in the business for 20 years, I still have ears. I can't make definative statements or statements for attribution, but people need to use some common sense..

Why the smeg would AAR want to tout the 'Official Sat Radio Home of Air America' if they couldn't air ALL the shows in the right time?

right.

But CONTRACTS TAKE TIME.
LOGISTICS TAKE TIME.

They have to bounce Schultz and Colmes to another channel.
That's only 6 hours/day.
Schultz has been making noise about expanding his show to 4 hours.
You have to have things to fill those other 18 (17) hours.

THINGS TAKE TIME.

22. As some here would ask Bushies "Why do you hate America so much?"
Edited on Sun Jul-10-05 11:11 PM by calipendence
I'm going to ask you, Rosco, the same thing.

You've posted far more about this subject than anyone else, and I can't understand why you appear to adamantly despise Sirius Satellite Radio so much. Why do you hate Sirius so much Rosco?

If there's a vested interest, like you work for XM, have your life savings in stock in them, etc., then I can understand your motivation to try and shoot them down, but understand it is not an emotion that the rest of us understand or share with you.

If there is something other than a personal interest that you dislike them that much other than these cherry picked tidbits you are trying to get everyone sold onto XM for, please share it with us. Because I see someone motivated to slam Sirius down, but for reasons I don't understand.

It just feels to me, like I see in a few other posts here, that you are going to lose out personally if somehow Sirius isn't trashed on your account by this deal.

I have my own personal reasons for not liking XM too, but they are very minor (and no, neither I nor anyone I knows works for Sirius, nor have I ever owned any stock in them either), and they happened way after I'd already decided to buy into Sirius anyway. My reasons for liking Sirius more than XM are purely quality of product related as I've explained in my posts here, and I think others have said the same thing.

Whether you or others choose XM, I really don't care. But you seem to care that I and others don't stay with Sirius as if it is some sort of religious experience. Why don't you just say you're happy with XM getting Air America for you, and we can say that we're unhappy with the Air America deal, but we'll survive without them for our own reasons and be done with it!

I might change my mind if I see a pronounced change in what XM is offering me and their attitude in building a good customer relationship, but that hasn't happened, and I'm not holding my breath waiting for it to happen either.

27. I have Sirius, and personally I think it would not be wise until
Sirius subscribers see what content 144 will have

The rumors are that it would be progressive/liberal talk, I certainly hope so

Right now I am not rushing to do anything

29. I don't have a problem with people going with XM or Sirius
I can get AAR OTA in northern Califronia, 960 AM, the quake

I have three receivers through Sirius right now, and depending on what is put on to replace AAR, will determine how many receivers I keep

Right now they are duplicating Sirus Left, but the logo on the radio says, "real liberal talk", so tomorrow will determine the content

As far as my position is, the more liberal/progressive talk the better. Obviously, Sirius could not afford to pay AAR, so they went exclusive with XM. That may have been due to Stern coming aboard, who knows, but it was a business decision

I am not particularly fond of Alex Benett because he is constantly trashing AAR. Frankly, any progressive radio where ever it appears is good for our cause
