GOP aims to savage MoveOn.org

From top White House operative Karl Rove to two of the party campaign committees, Republicans have launched a full-scale attack on MoveOn.org, questioning the liberal group’s patriotism and worldview, Roll Call reports in Monday editions. An example of this campaign can be found at the Drudge Report, which claimed Sunday evening to have obtained "exclusive" details about a MoveOn event instructing members not to wear 'Bush Liar' t-shirts. These attacks appear to have two purposes: One is to put the group and its Democratic allies on the defensive over support for the war on terror. And the second is to drive a wedge between Democratic candidates and the millions of dollars that MoveOn’s supporters have pumped into their campaigns.

With MoveOn fast becoming one of the Democratic Party’s most important fundraising sources, the second goal may end up being the more important one.

7. The way to beat being "swiftboatted" by Rove...

....is to fight back--like hell.

We all saw what happened to Kerry when he underestimated attacks from Karl.

It's amazing. Rove takes a persons' (or groups') strength and uses it against them. That's his entire schtick.

He took Kerry--a decorated, courageous war hero--and positioned him as a traitorous liar who disgraced his country. Unfrickinbelievable.

All Moveon has to do is RESPOND with truth, creativity and courage.

We need to fight Karl with the truth--with more conviction than Karl disseminates his lies.

We must be the loudest voice in the fight--and we must respond and win.
