Goodbye AAR/Sirius
I was curious this morning to see if sirius had any new programming changes to replace AAR. They are currently broadcasting"Sirius Left" on both channels 143-144 at this present time.
Alex Bennett was chatting about how many phone calls they have been receiving this morning asking where is AAR?
I dont know anything about Alex Bennett so I will give him a chance to listen to see what he is all about.
Bennett voiced that he was really upset about what happened with AAR but he understands from the model of doing business..

1. Talk Left is a boring cousin of AAR.

2. Wi-Fi Is On The Way
I just read a very interesting article that the next step in taking internet streaming and turning it into "real radio" is about to happen. Actually it is right now for anyone with an IPOD. It's sending the audio via WiFi networks to special devices or directly to your cellphone. It'll be thousands of stations, all in digital sound and all you'll need is the radio and an existing Internet account.

Around my office I listen to AAR on a Linksys Studio Link...an internet radio for about $125 at Best Buys. Right now it hooks up to any wireless router, but it's also set to work on the larger networks.

Some might already have a system or service available...and all you need is AAR's audio IP address and away you go. Also since the this device only serves as a radio, there's rarely any breaking up or "congestion".

I've been involved in radio and fascinated with it all my life, but I still don't have a Sirius or XM radio and never will. I've never been impressed with how they operate (a long story about their "creative financing") and their threat to the further destruction of local radio.

3. Sirius
I am more of a fan of Talk Left than I am of AAR anyway. I usually listen to all Talk Left, but I will miss Majority Report. Otherwise, I really won't miss anything. Lynn Samuels last week said she was unsure what programming would replace AAR, but she noted there are a lot of very good left of center talk radio hosts who could form a second channel.

BTW - I love Lynn Samuels.

7. Two?
Try five:

ABC Talk, Fox, Talk Right, Patriot, Wisdom. Even a good chunk of Talk "Left" borders on right wing: Alex "I Don't Like Liberals Any More Than Conservatives Like Liberals" Bennett, registered Republican Ed Schultz, and Hannity apologist Alan Colmes.

10. I'll be staying with Sirius
but I hope they get some more programming for 144. I don't care for Ed Shultz or Alex Bennett, so I'd like to have an alternative. Above all else, I wish they'd run the whole three hours of Thom Hartmann.

I'm usually home at night so I can stream Majority Report and Mike Malloy.

11. Stephanie Miller Also
I also hope Sirius 144 will broadcast the whole three hours of Hartmann. I would also LOVE for them to broadcast Stephanie Miller's show when it is actually on at 9:00am Eastern time.

The display on my Sirius receiver says Liberal Radio for now. Hope that is a true indication of what it is going to be broadcast in the future.

15. I liked Alex Bennett
and Ed Schultz was great today.

I feel screwed by AAR; they handled this badly. Not a good move on their part.
