We let people off the hook too quickly -- i.e. Robin Hayes
Remember him?? It was only two weeks ago when he said, "Saddam Hussein and people like him were very much involved in 9/11," and when told that this argument has been proven false, responded, "I'm sorry, but you must have looked in the wrong places."

I remember thinking at the time that out of all the irresponsible and dangerous things that the Repukes often say, this was one of the worst and was worthy of a call to resign. And yet, with all of the stories that have come up since then, there hasn't been another word about Rep. Hayes.

The reason I bring this up is because it happens over and over. Had Rove not had the Plame story break, he would have been off the hook following his speech in NY. Right now, we are all outraged over, no one will even remember what they said.

I'm not sure what the answer is, but I do know that we are never going to hold these people accountable for what they say if we do nothing more than be outraged for a day or two, and then let it go.
