Why Does Karl Rove Still Have His Security Clearance?

If he were anyone else, it would have been taken away the second the WH security office learned about his role in the Plame matter, and he would have been out the door.

Wonder whether he's been questioned. What did he say, and was it under oath?

Why aren't our leaders asking these questions?

...of misbehavior or even if he or she fires a gun in the line of duty, that office is taken off patrol.

When a teacher is suspected of abouse and other behavior that affects his or her job, that teacher is taken out of the classroom.

I would expect no less for those who work in the White House and who have access to very sensitive material.

You can't compare a cop to someone in the presidents inner cricle. If we could every single politician would be in prison right now. This is Karl Rove, not some $30,000 a year person living in a 2x2. Even though you hate the man, that doesnt take away that he wields power. Those that have power are treated differently - because they buy there way out of it - or influence there way out. Its just a fact of reality.

Just like Michael Jackson hanging his kid out that window. If anyone else did that Dyfus would be in there in two seconds to take those kids away.

You just have to present a threat of unauthorized release of classified materials. There's plenty of cause to believe that. If I were in the WH security office, I would be demanding Rove's keys.

In fact, if the security office doesn't make that demand, they should be investigated. Anybody in the FBI or SS reading this, please pick up the phone and call your colleagues at 1600 Penn.

No you wouldnt because if you took Karl Roves keys, they would fire you and give back his keys. You think its just that simple to go in there and say .. sorry man.. gotta take away your clearance... you know what kind of shit storm that would cause? Karl Rove cant work without his clearance. You would have to fire him. The White House would never fire Rove over an email, a reporter and what we post here. It would be a PR killer and the White House wouldnt deal with that. Short of a confession on Karl Roves end .. The White House will back him up.

I think it unlikely that person would be fired. Think about it.

In fact, under these circumstances, it may be mandatory.

If the issue gets raised by someone in a position of visibility, they will have to do that. We should all be raising hell about it until someone hears us.

He had no official title and NO CLEARANCE. Now he is Officially Assistant Chief of Staff and has Proper Clearance. But when this leak occured he had none.
