Rover outing plame--on yahoo front page
White House Deputy Chief of Staff Karl Rove spoke with at least one reporter about Valerie Plame's role at the CIA before she was identified as a covert agent in a newspaper column two years ago, but Rove's lawyer said yesterday that his client did not identify her by name.

Rove had a short conversation with Time magazine reporter Matthew Cooper on July 11, 2003, three days before Robert D. Novak publicly exposed Plame in a column about her husband, Joseph C. Wilson IV. Wilson had come under attack from the White House for his assertions that he found no evidence Iraq was trying to buy uranium from Niger and that he reported those findings to top administration officials. Wilson publicly accused the administration of leaking his wife's identity as a means of retaliation.

4. Same for AOL
AOL Headline: "Rove Spoke With Reporter About CIA Agent/
No Indication Bush Aide Used Operative's Name or Knew Covert Status/Rove recently gave Time magazine reporter Matt Cooper permission to testify about the conversation, Rove's lawyer said.

WASHINGTON (July 10) - Top White House advisor Karl Rove was one of the secret sources that spoke to reporters about a covert CIA operative whose identity was leaked to the media, Newsweek magazine reported in its latest edition."

Of course they make it sound like Rove didn't do anything wrong but yet their poll shows most AOL users aren't buying it.

What's your take on what Karl Rove said to Time about the agent?
He deliberately said too much 71%
It's unclear 13%
He didn't say too much at all 11%
He mistakenly said too much 6%
Total Votes: 77,495

5. A Funny Thing About Yahoo...
I always rate stories that I read from Yahoo (you know, rate the Olsen Twins down and rate the real new up kinda thing). What I find interesting is that if I read and rate a lot of stories, after awhile I get locked out and get nothing but 404 or 'page not found' errors. On top of that, it seems many times that many of the stories have been pre-rated by me, even though I most certainly have not rated a particular story.

Not that I'm ready to don a tin-foil hat and claim that there's a Yahoo Conspiracy to slant the news or anything - I figure many of these stories end up getting cross-linked and the rating system is a less-than-elegant bit of programming.

But still, there are times I find it highly curious that stories I've never read have already been rated...
