Bu$h: Free people are less likely to commit terrorism
Bu$h mentioned in his speech the he believes free people are less likely to commit terrorism. If this is the case the U.S. must be one of the most peaceful countries on the planet, but instead we have more people in prison than any other country on the planet, including China. I guess China is more free than us according to Shrub's definition.

1. Good. Then free the people in Guantanamo
That way they'll be less likely to drive a cab for terrorism.

2. HAPPY people are less likely to commit terrorism
freedom = happy in our popular imagination.

metus autem est, ubi nullis irascitur.

there is no fear where none is angry.

4. Ah, yes, but within the US,
American citizens tend to terrorize each other. It's only when them damn "furriners" cause it that it counts as real terrorism. :sarcasm:

5. American Christian Conservatives prove him wrong
dobson and robertson and falwell etc, are terrorist leaders in this country attempting to inflict pain on those they don't like anyway possible. Slinking around in the dark, not to allow their hate to be too heavily exposed, they choose constitutional amendments as their above board weapons of choice to slash and cut those they hate in a "civilized" manner.

Note from a veteran: THE CONSTITUTION IS NOT A WEAPON (A CAR BOMB IF YOU WILL) IT IS A SHIELD.

6. Most of the world
would be happy with

1) Freedom from worry about having enough food
2) Freedom from being shot at
3) the Freedom that comes with clean water to drink

and if you add

4) the freedom to send their kids to school
and
5) the freedom to go to the doctor when they are sick

90% of the world would be giddy with their new freedom.

7. Like in Ireland, right?
People who have a government that's willing to address their grievances are less likely to commit terrorism. Terrorism is one symptom of a failed government.

15. How does he define free people?
Aren't the Iraqi people free now?

Which people is he talking about that aren't free?

16. Good point
It seems like the opposite is true.

Imprisoned people are less likely to commit terrorism. That's what he meant to say, just got it kinda backward.

18. Occupied people
Israel has imposed freedom on the Palestinians --and see, no terror there!
America has imposed freedom on the Iraqis --and see, there's now just an endless flooding plain of tranquility there between the Tigris and Euphrates.

Invasion doesn't cause terrorism. Invasion and occupation innoculate a people against the suppressed rage that cause terrorism. Cause equals anti-effect, as all the schools of philosophy agree.

17. People must want freedom first
instead of having it shoved down their throat as part of *'s "anti-terrorism" rhetoric.

19. I think Bu$h listened to Bobby McGee too many times
back when he was a stoner.

Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose.
Nothing, it ain't nothing but it's free...
