LIBERAL MEDIA ?
Examining Corporate Media Ownership and The Resulting Conservative Bias
For those of you who think the media is controlled by Liberals.

These are the holdings of some of the most Conservative corporations on the planet.

Is This The Liberal Media?

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

History of Major Media Ownership
Time Warner
$25 billion - 1997 sales

Time Warner, the largest conservative media corporation in the world, was formed in 1989 through the merger of Time Inc. and Warner Communications. In 1992, Time Warner split off its entertainment group, and sold 25 percent of it to U.S. West, and 5.6 percent of it to each of the Japanese conglomerates Itochu and Toshiba. It regained from Disney its position as the world's largest media firm with the 1996 acquisition of Turner Broadcasting.

The list goes on and on...

2. Informative, but a bit outdated.
*TCI was bought by AT&T in 1999, who then bought Media One (more cable) and then sold the whole lot to Comcast. Comcast is now the largest cable provider, unseating Time Warner.
*There's no mention of Fox News, which places this info at 1996 or before.
*Universal was sold from Seagram to Vivendi, a French water company, and then sold this year to GE/NBC.
*Viacom Purchased CBS from Westinghouse in the early 2000's.
*AOL purchased controlling shares in Time Warner in 2001. AOLTW also owns 25% of Six Flags Inc. So they're into theme parks as well.
*News' purchase of DirecTV shares (I don't know if it's controlling stake though) happened in 2003-2004.
