Was Rove appointed or elected by the People?
I'm just curious, I must have missed the lecture that mentioned this, but was Karl Rove approved by Congress or something?

4. I don't believe he has ever been elected to any office
Bush hired him to be his chief of staff.

5. I think constitutional offices have to be approved
But taxpayer paid political hacks to any President are just at his discretion. I personally think the purely political positions like Rove's should not be paid by the taxpayers be it a (D) President or an (R) President.

Besides what does someone like him do? Nothing worth being paid for. He's not any elected official. Our government is of the people, by the people and for the people and thus why only elected officials should get paid.

8. He was promoted to "Deputy Chief of Staff" in January
http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-rove09.html

WASHINGTON -- Karl Rove, President Bush's senior political strategist, has been promoted to deputy chief of staff.

Rove will continue to oversee strategy to advance the president's agenda. In addition, he will continue to oversee the offices of intergovernmental affairs, political affairs and strategic initiatives.

But he will add to his portfolio the oversight of all White House policy development and coordination of the Domestic Policy Council, the National Economic Council, the National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council, White House press secretary Scott McClellan said. AP

9. OK, now can someone give me data on Rove's positions 2000-2005?
I can't seem to find it, thanks.

If I am right about my suspicions though, I may prove something against Rove and the WH.

10. Read this:
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 06:15 PM by tjdee
"After the presidential elections in November 2000, Karl Rove organized an emergency response of Republican politicians and supporters to go to Florida to assist the Bush campaign's position during the recount.

George W. Bush was inaugurated in January 2001. Rove accepted a position in the Bush administration as Senior Advisor to the President. The President's confidence in Rove is such that during a meeting with South Korean president Roh Moo-hyun on 14 May 2003, President George W. Bush brought only Rove and then-National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice."

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Karl_Rove

As far as I can tell, he was "Senior Advisor to the President" (sic) until January when he went to Dep. Chief of Staff.

Thanks DU'ers.

Rove was unelected, unappointed, basically he was not chosen by the People.

Doesn't that give you a warm and cuddly feeling about that?

Karl Rove was NOT in a special position when he released Plame's name.

So, it is bigger than him, so who gave the CIA Agent's name to Rove?
