Could Scott McClellan be guilty of obstruction of justice? Indicted?
Edited on Mon Jul-11-05 06:48 PM by Lex
.
Clearly he LIED about Rove not being involved in the Plame leak. (I guess maybe Karl could've lied to him, but I don't think that's the case).

I think Scott McClellan KNEW full well he was lying when he said Rove was not involved in the leak. I believe he did it to turn the heat off Rove and it could open him up to criminal charges.

Certainly I think Fitzgerald is interested in him, or interested in the lie. McClellan sure didn't want to answer any more questions about what he said, did he?

Interesting:

1. McClellan was not under oath when he stood at the podium...
in front of the White House Press Corps. However, if he perjured himseld in front of the grand jury he can look forward to being the bottom for someone other than Jeff Gannon.

3. You don't have to be under oath to commit obstruction of justice . . .
or to be involved in a cover-up that has criminal consequences.

2. Nah, he's just a mouthpiece. He doesn't even matter, anyway.
He's not a decision-maker. He just spews whatever they tell him to spew, spin what they tell him to spin.

He doesn't matter.

7. I want to see as many as possible in the White House indicted.
Anyone who lied about Plame, from Rove to McClellan to Cheney to Jeff Gannon or whomever.

8. Yeah, but he doesn't know anything. It would actually be very unintel-
ligent for them to tell him about any of the bad stuff.

There's no reason for him to know it. I guarantee you that he doesn't know anything. He and they make sure of that.

9. He was hired to replace Ari that very week remember? Seems he
may have been given the job 'just because' he didn't know as much as Ari. I could see Ari leaving because he refused to all out lie. I could see Ari writing "kiss up" books to the neocons hoping he will get re-hired as soon as Karl takes the frog walk.

10. Hmmm . . . I was wondering about the timing on that.
Very interesting that it was the same week.

Maybe a coincidence, maybe not.

Federal Prosecutors rarely believe in coincidences.
