This is planned to prevent the situation deteriorating any further and facilitate a swift recovery in the coming months.
What will BTA do next? The UKwithNY event from 14 - 28 October in New York will show the UK’s solidarity with New York in a time of crisis and has received the full support of Mayor Rudolph Giuliani and New York’s business community. Three years in the planning, it is the largest international initiative launched in New York City for almost 20 years. It reflects the solidarity between the United Kingdom and New York - a solidarity that has become all the more vital after the events of September 11. The festival - with some 200 concerts, performances, exhibitions, lectures, and more - will share the most compelling and captivating aspects of 21st-century Britain with the City, its residents and visitors. Including: - The Band of the Coldstream Guards, which won the hearts of the US public by playing the Star Spangled Banner in the days immediately following the terrorist attacks on 11 September, will help kick off the UKwithNY festival. Performances include concerts in Washington Square Park, the Cathedral of St John the Divine, the opening of the Rockefeller Center Skating Rink and a parade in Bryant Park. The Band’s visit is sponsored by BTA."

Possible that Rudy knew Peter Power through Tourism and Security businesses?
"Peter Power, a former police officer who witnessed the King's Cross fire that killed 30 people, devised the 'gold, silver, bronze' response strategy now used by every police force in Britain. He heads a company, Visor Consultants, which has written the DTI's guide to coping with a crisis."
