I'm working a different schedule for a few weeks and have a long commute. This temp schedule has me driving in after the local station finishes NPR News so I can't get my morning NPR fix. I'm not in the mood for music (how sad is that, a former musician "not in the mood for music"?), so I switch over to the local Talk Radio station to hear what the latest RW spin is.
The usual "RushWannabe" is on vacation, although his usual crony is still there with this "fill-in" guy.
So what does this "fill-in" guy start talking about? (hold on to your hats, ladies and gentlemen....)
HOW MUCH BUSH AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY HAVE LET US DOWN!!!!!!
OK, he starts on this rant AGAINST Bush and the Repukes, and I expect the crony to challenge him.
NO! The crony agrees!!!!
Now it's time for the callers to start coming in. I expected some typical Freeper spin and rednecks to tear him a new one for daring to question the Exalted Leader.
THEY WERE AGREEING WITH HIM!!!!
Now, I'm sure these callers are filtered, so I'm convinced there were some callers who wanted to rip him a new one -
But, what was amazing that in a Red State he was getting call after call of people who used to march in lock-step: who are now expressing their own feelings that Bush and the Repukes let them down!
OK, that was exciting enough. Then, as I was leaving work, Michael Savage (The Savage Nation) was on the same radio station. This was only the second time I have ever heard this a**hole, and if you haven't heard him (I don't recommend it), he makes Mann Coulter look like a Camp Fire Girl.
But, HE WAS CRITICIZING BUSH! Of course, somehow he managed to blame Bush and Clinton at the same time (believe it or not), but he still criticized Bush AND THE ENTIRE REPUBLICAN CONTROLLED GOVERNMENT!
He echoed the comments of the local fill-in guy that "our government and our party has let us down".
THE SHEEPLE ARE WAKING UP!!!!!!! :toast:
In closing, here are some things from the "fill-in" guy that may be helpful in framing issues for 2006 and 2008 - amazingly close to the direction and Dean and Kerry have recommended! The fill-in guy was pushing Fred Thompson for 2008 (he admitted Fred was a RINO, but he still defended him):
Illegal Immigration - this seemed to be the defining issue for the local fill-in guy and Savage. Although both of them obviously have problems with immigrants in general, both of them framed it in terms of National Security. This reminds me, personally, of Kerry's call to improve security at ports, borders, etc. Kerry and Dem's may not want to go as far as they would like to keep immigrants out, but at least Dem's point out that we need to do more to guard and protect borders and ports against potential terrorists. These RW'ers agree that Bush has done NOTHING.
Abortion - Abortion has been designated as a "right", and it's hard to take away rights (BTW, he trashed the Patriot Act). He was discussing this with a caller at the time, and I really couldn't believe my ears - he and the caller agreed that we shouldn't take away the right to have an abortion, but it should be regulated and partial birth abortion in particular should be banned (basically, what Dean and Kerry have been saying - as far as partial birth, the SCOTUS told us the only reason that it was un-Constitutional was because it had no provisions to protect the health of the mother. SCOTUS told Congress what to do to fix it, but the Repuke Congress gave up. You and I know why: this is the number 1 campaign issue for Repukes, and they're not about to give it up).
Well, that's about it, but Dean is definitely on the right track.
The time is ripe, the time is NOW! Many Repuke voters agree with us more than they do the Repuke party (as proved by the PIPA report in 2004). They just believed the spin.
THE SHEEPLE ARE WAKING UP!
