Having just watched the latested Daily Show...
Don't be afraid of the big bad Broward County!

If ya ever come down here to visit, stop by Broward. We are the most Democratic leaning county in the state (+150k votes or so for Kerry; second being 40-60k + in Miami/Palm Beach).

There is shitloads of fun to have in "Ft. Liqourdale"...I'm the "Drinking Liberally" liason dwon here.

So...if you ever want to have fun in Florida whilst avoiding the ra-ra Bush crowd, come down here.

We wouldn't mind the tourist cash either...<bartender here<>;)

1. You guys are great DEMS. It's amazing how Democratic Broward is.
It's because you live right that you are able to think properly and show some compassion for the rest of us who don't enjoy your "lifestyle" advangates.

5. No apology needed...
Find me a world class lobster bisque soup and I will swear off all sins for life...because lobster bisque is THAT good.

On the positive side, Broward is, for the most part, built out. In other words, no more Repug-leaning exurbs have room to sprout.

I will say, wtj a mdest sense of pride, that this county provided more Clinton 2/Gore votes (as a percentage of total votes) than San Francisco :P

So, to all of you Florida bashers...

60% of the county is from the Tri-State (NY, Connecticut, NJ)

We have one of the only homosexual equal-rights laws in the state (never mind the country).

Boy Scouts face anti-discrimitory laws in Broward if they don't accept members of the non-straight population.

We have MILTON MANORS!

We are all pirates. Drinking, eating, and wentching is encouraged (well...I'm stretching a bit here...:)

Debbie Wasserman-Shulman is the rep of most of broward (remember Schiavo?)

We deliver more Dem votes in any election year than any other county in Florida...it's like a different world down here (of course, most state legislature money goes to other couties, since we don't vote repug.).

Just an FYI...if ya' head into Ft. Lauderdale the city ( which, I must admit, I don't know if there was ever a fort here, but I assume so...)
as opposed tpo the 'burbs, ask for directions to the Poorhouse. I don't work there, but I guranteee you'll have a good time.

7. Planation High, Plantation Middle, Mirror Lake Elementary,
Funny thig is that even though I lived in solid middle-class neighborhoods, all of the school boundaries extended to incude everyone.

I remember Plantation High...33% white, 33% black, 33% hispanic. (remainder mostly Carribean East Indians).

Sometimes I wonder if I would have ended up a bigot if I had spent my life up in Bergen County, Jersey, where I lived until 5. I remeber 1 black kid in the entire school.

9. Lauderhill Middle, there was not a Plantation Middle at that time...
wow, talk about sycronisity... I also lived in the Seaside Heights, NJ area (as well as NYC)...

When I lived in Lauderhill, Sunrise was the eastern most development. After that there was nothing but farms, woods and swamp etc.
