WASHINGTON, July 12 /U.S. Newswire/ -- Following is a statement by Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Ken Mehlman on the partisan attack on Karl Rove:

Crowley tried to say that Wilson was wrong about Saddam having a contract to purchase yellow cake. It is not false that Ambassador Wilson went to Niger at the behest of the CIA. It is not false that he returned with complete evidence that the report saying Niger was selling Yellowcake to Iraq was false. What exactly is the "false story" that reporters were being "warned" by Rove about?

claiming that Wilson's procliamation that the Vice-President requested information about the Uranium and that the OFFICIAL CIA - (Tenet) - didn't ask Wilson to go, only that it was suggested during a CIA meeting by Valerie Plame.

It was Wilson who has been claming that the Niger Documents were forgeries -- and this is their excuses for continuing to believe those documents, even though Dulfer Report completely backs up Wilson.
