Hillary smokescreen!

I think that al the Hillary 08 rumors is smokescreen. She herself has denied that she will run in 08. It is designed for Republicans to focus a lot of their funds on creating negative campaigning and fear tactics against Hillary(they are probably working of them right now). Think what surprise for republicans it would be, when in 08 someone else announces a run for president- gore.Republicans would be mad, because they spend so much money on anti-hillary campaign and they would not have enough time to trash gore. As a result al gore will win again in 08, but this time he will be president. This is my opinion but I think I would be a nice anti-republican tactic! :dem:

I think because George H.W. Bush's popularity was like 90% at the time of the first Gulf War, a lot of people were hesitant about running & raising money in '91, so I think Cuomo decided it would not be worth the uphill fight... leaving the door open for Bill Clinton and others at the time and the falling back to Earth of Bush's popularity throughout 1992.

There were always rumors about "skeletons" in Cuomo's closet at well... who knows, we could have had an early version "Italians for Truth"

Same with Clinton hanging around the Bush's. He can like them of course but it's just weird I guess. :shrug: But I saw her interview on CNN and they asked her if she was running in 2008. She said she was concentrating on her Senate seat and running in 2006 so if she's still running for her Senate seat can she run in 2008? Don't they have a contract or something like that with the people of being in there four years? I don't think Hillary is running either. She doesn't have a PAC up yet does she? I know she has "Friends of Hillary" but that's mostly her Senate stuff they talk about. Of course I'm going to wait until next year before I decide if she's running or not. When did John Kerry announce he was running? But that would be nice if they focus all their time on Hillary and not anybody else and have no money too. And if Kerry runs again what are they going to get him with? Same with if Gore ran. I remember hearing rumors earlier this year about Gore running for something this next time (I remember his wife saying something). :shrug:

there's quite a bit of latent chauvinism here at DU. Not as virulent as the freepers, but still here.
And disappointing.
Newt used to be used as a moneyraiser for Dems. The spectre of Hillary raises money for the Repubs. But, hey, what doesn't raise money for them? Corporate welfare piggies LOVE the Republicans. And so do the evangelicals. They hardly need Hillary.
Personally, I don't think she's going to run. But I wouldn't blame her if she played with people a little.
