21. It's a movement started in Europe
as a reaction to fast food. It encourages people to cook from scratch, use organic, local and rarer ingredients, like varieties that are disappearing because they are not profitable enough for agribusiness. It also encourages sustainable, clean and responsible farming by familes or other small groups and ceaseless fighting against Big Ag.
Not only is it ethical, but the second you eat a proper tomato or pork chop you'll remember what food was like when we were kids. And you lose weight on it. My mom did and she nailed it right on the head as to why: "The food was so satisfying, I didn't want to eat more. I really felt I'd had enough."

4. I am a man who voted for female reproductive rights
why? There are lots of things you can correlate with reproductive rights. I looked at it as a whole view and a societal change. It would encompass education and health care and the Supreme Court.

Also, our dear women are a voice left out of the battle and are too often unheard. Right now, our women are really hurting and worried about Justice O'Connor's retirement and the possibility of Rehnquist and Stevens leaving soon. Meanwhile, we are all getting excited because Karl Rove is in trouble. I'm glad Rove is in deep shit, but his resignation doesn't make our women any better off. Fighting for a woman's rights is one of the top few most important issues today. I can think of no better issue to fight for.

8. That's very cool...
If you don't mind my saying, though... "our women" sounds really odd to me... makes me feel a bit like a pet or something.

That said, I'm glad you support women's rights.

16. Would have chosen "voting rights" but I came to the issue late in the game
I think it's probably the most important issue on the list, because without it, none of the other issues stand a chance.

However, I don't know enough about it to make it my mission.

I also didn't vote for education reform, because with such a competitive job market, the last thing we need is to subsidize the education of children whose parents are too ignorant to know how ignorant they are.

Every time some fundie takes their child out of public school to protect them from tolerance and Darwin, I quietly give thanks and say to myself, "Well, that's one less person competing with my kids for the GOOD jobs."

Sorry, I'm exaggerating the level of my cold-hearted cynicism.

After all, those people will eventually have to vote, too.

24. I came late in the game too
and was basically treated like an idiot in the 2004 election forum...so I didn't stick around to try to be helpful or to learn what difference I could make.
However, it is a huge concern, but would rather leave it to people who "know those things".

19. Definitely voting reform
I hate to admit it, but I've been busted down to just the very fundamentals of how a republic should work. There can be no representative democracy if the mechanism that enables it is in disrepair.

20. Healthcare, assuming...
I presume that the Dems will take back both sides of Congress in '06. So Constitutional issues will more or less take care of themselves. If we don't take back the Congress, we're in big poo-poo. In that case, I have to go with Constitutional rights.

30. I voted "Welfare Reform" .... but that really doesn't say it ......
It is more in line with the phrase "Minimum Standard of Living" .... and that goes to sooooooo much more than "sending checks to welfare queens".

I want a country where the least of us are better off than the best in the worst country.

That goes to pay

That goes to education

That goes to health care

That goes to housing

That goes to nutrition

That goes to old age security

That goes to everything that impacts one's life

These are not separate issues ... they are one ...... and they all go to the initial phrase ..... a A Minimum Standard of Living. Our citizens are worth nothing less.
