Repulicans' Primary Responses to the Plame Outing.
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 03:59 PM by bj2110
1) Rove didn't reveal her name, thus he didn't know who she was.

2) Plame wasn't a covert operative, so why does it matter if she was revealed?

3) Wilson's report was fabricated, so Rove was just warning Cooper not to pursue a false report initiated by the writer's wife.

I think most of the republican responses fall into these basic categories.

So, let's be unified in the appropriate response to each of these.

Everyone give it a shot, I'm sure we'll nail it shut...

1. 1.- He did,
2.- NUCs are so secret that it is on a need to know basis, so why did Rove know this?

3.- Wilson't report was so false we are still looking for yellow cake, so where is the cake?

My favorite response though, covers all... so you do not mind if treason is commited as long as this is a Republican, how family values of you

2. 1) He said "Joseph Wilson's wife". He identified her without 'naming' her.

3. 1) he didn't reveal her name but referred to as Wilson's wife
therefore he knew who she was

2) Her job was to collect intelligence on the proliferation of WMD. Are there other CIA agents working on this project that you would like to out?

3) Wilson reported that the Yellow Cake intelligence was fabricated which turned out to be true and was admitted to by the WH

10. Plame and Bolton are linked through the proliferation issue
And we KNOW that Bolton is one of the most vindictive assholes in government.

5. Okay, I'll play.
1) Rove didn't reveal her name, thus he didn't know who she was.

He knew her identity well enough to reveal who she was, and it's the revelation of the identity that counts.

2) Plame wasn't a covert operative, so why does it matter if she was revealed?

This has yet to be verified or proven otherwise. What is known is that the revelation of her identity put her entire network, which specialized in tracking weapons of mass destruction, at risk.

3) Wilson's report was fabricated, so Rove was just warning Cooper not to pursue a false report initiated by the writer's wife.

Wilson's report was fabricated? Prove it.

And my own addition -- "It's Cooper's fault -- he burned Rove."

You'd have us believe that a man who was shaking in his shoes over the prospect of revealing Rove as a source, earlier somehow had the guts to unilaterally decide to "burn" Rove? .... Next!

6. The Republicans I've asked say, "If Rove did it, fire him."
This "no big deal" thing is being perpetuated by the political leaders, not by the real Republican voters paying attention.

14. They don't like it.
To be honest, a lot of them don't really like Bush. A lot of them voted for Bush because they were convinced they should hate Kerry.

7. Response to Number 3.
First I have seen no proof to verify that Wilson's report was fabricated, in fact, many of the assertions made by Wilson were correct.

But most importantly, even if Rove's intent was to discredit Wilson THAT IS NO EXCUSE TO EXPOSE THE IDENTITY OF A CIA AGENT. It is unethical, potentially illegal and absolutely damaging to our national security.

9. r.e. #1
If you were to say, "I wish to hurt the president" (this is all hypothetical, agent Mike), do you suppose that when they dragged you in front of the judge, you could claim that since you didn't NAME Bush, you cannot be held liable? I suspect one would have a long time in federal prison contemplating why that defense didn't work.

11. It's just an attempt by the Moveon.org wing of the democratic party
to discredit this administration. It's those damn libruls.

:sarcasm:

At least Bush Daddy had the nerve to fire KKKarl.

12. So far, I see some good retaliations for 1) and 2)...
My favaorites:

1) Rove didn't reveal her name, thus he didn't know who she was.

He revealed her identity. Wilson had only one wife, and it was
common knowledge that it was Plame. A person is identified by
revealing their spouse. This should be obvious.

2) Plame wasn't a covert operative, so why does it matter if she was revealed?

OK, if it is acceptable to reveal her identity because she
wasn't a "covert" agent, are there any other CIA agents who are
working on the WMD issue that you'd like to name?

3)Wilson's report was fabricated, so Rove was just warning Cooper not to pursue a false report initiated by the writer's wife.

Don't really see a good one for #3 yet, how about this:

Wilson's report has not been proven false, and the WH admits
it.

13. didn't WH also admit that the NIger docs were fakes?
