Randi Roads - Iran Contra Scandal culprets now employed by Bush Admin?!
Does anyone have any more info on this?

I heard on Randi Roads that the Pentagon is employing these criminals that threatened our national security under the "everyone deserves a second chance" idea. They can have a second chance at a grocery store, not the Pentagon!

9. That's been fairly well circulated for awhile now.
There was one author several years ago who wrote a book about how Ronnie was suffering from Alzheimer's before his first term was over.
The Gipper was just a front man for Poppy and his gang of theives.

Confessed Iran-Contra Figure Lands Sensitive Pentagon Post
Robert Earl, who helped in the failed coverup of the '80s scandal, is now chief of staff to Gordon England, acting deputy secretary of Defense.

by John Hendren

WASHINGTON — In 1987, Robert L. Earl told a grand jury that he had destroyed and stolen national security documents while working for Lt. Col. Oliver L. North during the Iran-Contra scandal.

Now, he sits in one of the most coveted offices in the Pentagon as chief of staff to Gordon R. England, acting deputy secretary of Defense. Earl has clearance to review the kinds of classified documents he once destroyed.

As England goes through his Senate confirmation process, his hiring of Earl has drawn criticism from government ethics watchdogs. But congressional sources said it was unlikely to affect support for England, who was popular on Capitol Hill but whose nomination was tied up over an arcane financial rule.

President Bush nominated England to replace Paul D. Wolfowitz, who left the deputy secretary's post this spring to head the World Bank.

A BIGGER, BADDER SEQUEL TO IRAN-CONTRA (article from 2003)

Jim Lobe, AlterNet

Just like Ollie North and his cohorts, a small network of officials are pursuing a covert foreign policy agenda -- except their aims are vastly more ambitious.

http://www.alternet.org/story/16597 /

The specter of the Iran-Contra affair is haunting Washington. Some of the people and countries are the same, and so are the methods ? particularly the pursuit by a network of well-placed individuals of a covert, parallel foreign policy that is at odds with official policy.
Boiled down to its essentials, the Iran-Contra affair was about a small group of officials based in the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) that ran an "off-the-books" operation to secretly sell arms to Iran in exchange for hostages. The picture being painted by various insider sources in the media suggests a similar but far more ambitious scheme at work.

Taken collectively, what these officials describe and what is already on the public record suggests the existence of a disciplined network of zealous, like-minded individuals. Centered in Undersecretary of Defense for Policy Douglas Feith's office and around Richard Perle in the Defense Policy Board in the Pentagon, this exclusive group of officials operates under the aegis of Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz, Pentagon chief Donald Rumsfeld and Vice President Dick Cheney.

This network includes high-level political appointees, such as Undersecretary of State John Bolton, who are scattered around several other key bureaucracies, notably in the State Department, the NSC staff, and most importantly, in Cheney's office.

4. They've been in * employ since the beginning. Everyone almost
in the administration worked under Reagan/Bush. And the "everyone deserves a second chance" must mean a second chanve to destroy the Consitution, a second chance to destroy Democracy, and a second chance to take over the country.

6. Yeah, quite a few of them are. Wasn't one of them over at DARPA
a couple of years ago heading up the Total Information Awareness project? I can't remember which one it was (Poindexter maybe?). If I'm not mistaken it was the same one who wanted to develop a futures market as a predictor for terrorist attacks.

13. He even had Poindexter (convicted felon) running DARPA.
That's the Big Brother extension of our goverment. Poindexter was forced to leave.
http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2002/02/20020225-16.html

This is a great dialogue between Ari Fleischer and Helen Thomas on Poindexter's appointment.

That's a summary of the President's day. Helen.

Q Ari, why would this administration choose a man for couterterrorism who is so associated with the dark side of the Iran Contra scandal, Admiral Poindexter?

MR. FLEISCHER: When you say, choose him for counterterrorism, can you be more specific?

Q He's in the Pentagon, he's been appointed head of DARPA, which is a counterterrorist office, developing plans, demonstrations with information.

MR. FLEISCHER: I'm not aware of any appointment.

Q Yet.

MR. FLEISCHER: Let me just say about Admiral Poindexter, Admiral Poindexter is somebody who this administration thinks is an outstanding American and an outstanding citizen who has done a very good job in what he has done for our country, serving in the military.

Q How can you say that, when he told Colonel North to lie?

MR. FLEISCHER: Helen, I think your views on Iran Contra are well-known, but the President does believe that Admiral Poindexter served --

Q It isn't my view, this is the prosecutor for the United States.

MR. FLEISCHER: I understand. The President thinks that Admiral Poindexter has served our nation very well.

Q Really?

MR. FLEISCHER: That's the President's thoughts.

Q Do you know his record?

MR. FLEISCHER: I'm sure you will inform me.

Q I don't have to, all you have to do is look it up.

15. Look who he picked to head the 9-11 commission
Now let's take a look at who Bush appointed to head the 9-11 investigation after the failed attempt to have Henry Kissinger do the deed:

"......former Congressman Lee Hamilton, chairman of the House select committee investigating the Iran-contra affair, was shown ample evidence against Ronald Reagan and George H. W. Bush, but he did not probe their wrongdoing. Why did Hamilton choose not to investigate? In a late 1980s interview aired on PBS 'Frontline,' Hamilton said that he did not think it would have been 'good for the country' to put the public through another impeachment trial. In Lee Hamilton's view, it was better to keep the public in the dark than to bring to light another Watergate, with all the implied ramifications. When Hamilton was chairman of the House committee investigating Iran-contra, he took the word of senior Reagan administration officials when they claimed Bush and Reagan were 'out of the loop.' Independent counsel Lawrence Walsh and White House records later proved that Reagan and Bush had been very much in the loop. If Hamilton had looked into the matter instead of accepting the Reagan administration's word, the congressional investigation would have shown the public the truth. Hamilton later said he should not have believed the Reagan officials. However, today, George W. Bush is considering appointing Hamilton UN ambassador."
