A few days ago the freepers were saying Plame was an insignificant
employee (one of them used the term "armchair colonel") whose identity wasn't important enough to matter...and now they're claiming she SENT Wilson on his Africa mission, implying obviously that she must have had more than a modicum of authority - after all the facts of the Niger Uranium connection were central to Bushco's march to Iraq invasion.

My bizarre-ometer gots a bent needle.

7. V. Plame was just a file clerk but...
she was so great at filing that she could send her husband on a fact finding trip to Niger, where he was once the Ambassador. Joe Wislon is a Dem so of course he lied about what he found out there. That's it. That will work on the Amerikan public, now let's move on this case is over.

3. Republicans Have Become the Fringe Party
and the American people are watching.

I will add that they deserve what's about to come their way. That's for putting your eggs in one basket (Bush Administration). The right wing conspiracy is exposed at an even greater rate, and yes I do believe more is to come. This is just getting started.

Hey Rove? Get your KY Jelly!

11. You can't have it both ways
This is also the oxymoron in what Rove was leaking to the press. If she could decide who would go on a special assignment, then she was something more than a file clerk. If she was a top-level administrator sending her husband on a government-paid junket, then the report he wrote would not have gone forward; in fact, he probably wouldn't have written a report.

The truth appears to be that Ms. Plame was neither a low-level munchkin nor a top-level administrator at the CIA. Perhaps the reason Wilson was chosen for the assignment has less to do with the fact his wife worked in the agency than the following:
  • Wilson was once acting ambassador to Iraq (1990-91);
  • Wilson was once ambassador to Gabon (1993-95);
  • Wilson is considered an expert in African uranium mining industries.
In short, Wilson was more than qualified for the assignment. It couldn't be regarded as a junket, because he took the assignment without pay.

The assignment was requested by Mr. Cheney's office. They had some information about Saddam attempting to purchase yellowcake from Niger that they wanted investigated. Perhaps to their disappointment, Wilson came back reporting that the information was false. That didn't fit into the regime's program of fixing facts and intelligence around the policy.
