Rovian/RNC talking points: Why haven't copies been leaked before?
http://rawstory.com/news/2005/Exclusive_GOP_talking_points_on_Rove_seek_to_discre_0712.html

I started a couple of threads about this over the last year or so, it has been SO OBVIOUS during shrubco that preprogrammed talking points are conceived centrally (my candidate would be Rove, along with some other "creative" flunkies at the RNC), and then disseminated for repetition by both RW media and politicians. I asked, has anyone ever SEEN or copied the fax or emails that contains this? Because it's self evident that they exist.

Gore had pointed out this phenomenon. The Daily Show (Jon Stewart) actually has done about the best job exposing this by simply playing montages of different people in shrubco and RW media mouthing these points one after another ("most liberal member of the Senate" re Kerry etc.).

But no one had ever produced a copy that I could find, until now. How is that? Are the Repubs THAT disciplined that no one ever left one of these lying around somewhere? I find that hard to imagine.

1. 2 words
Rove

Anthrax

Rove is a bully. That's easy to see.

Anthrax was sent ONLY to Democrats and Media. Most people are/were terribly intimidated by that.

5. I just find it hard that these guys have been communicating this stuff to
their minions all over the place, week in and week out for years, the obvious phenomenon has been pointed out, but no copies ever seen before just now.

4. I would imagine normally Rove sends them out
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 09:37 PM by xray s
But he's spending a lot of time lately sitting on the shitter, so I guess some flunky (maybe Scotty?) is sending them out and he hit the wrong fax list.

7. What assessments by Wilson were wrong?
Did we find any evidence that Iraq was rebuilding their nuclear program?
And just who sat on the Senate Select committee? Do we give a shit about what the CIA thought. After all they are the "real" reason we got hit on 911.

I think they should fire the author(Weyforth) for lousy talking points along with Rove!!!

8. Maybe they're just getting so desperate that they're spamming the
world with this trash in hopes that someone will be asleep on the job and actually report it.

Hmm.

10. Oh, that's good. I've always wanted to see one of the "talking point" fax
copies you knew they've been sending out for years.

I'm surprised there isn't instructions to shred or burn after use.

12. Yah, and read these fuzzy, misleading "points"
Edited on Tue Jul-12-05 10:26 PM by Ready4Change
"The false premise was Joe Wilsons allegation that the Vice President sent him to Niger."

That's not the point in question. The point is the treasonous outing of a secret CIA operative by a White House official during a time of war.

"The Senate Select Committee on Intelligence confirmed that Rove was right and Wilson was wrong: the Vice President didn't send Wilson Anywhere."

Again, not the point.

"Both the Senate Select Committe on Intelligence and the CIA found assessments Wilson made in his report were wrong."

Not "all assessments". Just "assessments." Time has proved that most of the assessments were dead on, and directly contradicted claims used by the WH to mislead our nation into war.

"KR has fully complied with the investigation for more than a year and has permitted any reporter he spoke with about Joe Wilson to discuss their conversation."

How about Joes wife? You know, the secret CIA intelligence source outed by some traitor in the WH during a time of war?

And if there's a difference between saying "Wilsons wife" and "Valerie Plame/Wilson" I'm sure the RNC would LOVE for Rove to tell us all about it. So speak up, Karl, or just waltz your traitorious self into the nearest jail cell.

I thought this WH was composed of "straight talkers?" What horseshit.

13. I was under the impression that repug leaders meet in...
Grover Norquists office to hammer out the RNC talking points. Brock wrote about it in his book. Here's the best link I could find.

17. Yeah, but they still have to be spread to other Repub pols and media
"cooperative" types who aren't in Washington somehow, whether via fax or email or phonecall. The last option is the only one that wouldn't lead to an obvious trail or document, but it would seem too tedious to make a series of phone calls, and then the recipient wouldn't have a sheet of paper in hand with the talking points to look at.

18. We Both Were On This Topic
It's called the "Blast Fax". Actually it's not so secret. I've seen them before. It's not some massive conspiracy, it's the "MOD" that comes out of the RNC offices to Hate Radio vermin, media morons and other talking heads. It lays out the party's position on the issues they think will be talked about that day and how they stand on them. Or at least that's what the concept was.

In my nearly 4 years here on DU, I've noted various times where the Blast Fax game is being played. It generally starts with some kind of leak or "dump" the evening before that works its way into the morning papers and talk shows. Washington Journal is a great place to catch 'em...if hosts like Peter or Brian Lamb aren't using them, their AEI plant or GOOP Congresscritter is or it'll be from some caller (generally a lady). It'll be something like "i heard somewhere else" or "blah blah (website, paper, made up source) is reporting...". There's other variations, but this is how the game goes.

It's like the old grade school game of telephone...the story gets past on and everyone builds to it. After the morning shows, then it gets the Rushbo/Hannity hate radio treatment...where rumors are spun into "facts" so that by 6pm, it's a major news story and then the prime topic (spin and lies embedded) as the major issues on the nightly food fights. By the time Joe Sixpack sits down to watch Hannity, the story has been refined and defined and polished. Meanwhile the next rumor/blast fax is being readied.

What we saw yesterday, was a breakdown of the system. It appears there were several MODs that were going out...or that it was changing as the day was going by. It got so bad, Mehlmann himself had to come out and try to bullshit his good buddy Leslie Blitzer.

I imagine TDS is on to this story...and, honestly, big deal. In fact, I wish the Democrats had a similar set up. It'd be nice before there's a major vote to know exactly where the party stands.

Cheers...
