1. This is a must-read
In fact, print it out and carry it around with you. When RW start talking and lying about Joe Wilson and Karl Rove, take this piece out and read it to them.

'nuff said.

3. Agreed, that is a keeper
And she worked without cover. If she'd ever been caught, she was on her own.

Ready and willing to risk her life to protect her nation. Protect all of us. With her life and her limb, and nothing else.

How can ANY American support an Admin that would do this to one of it's own??? For no good reason??

HOW?????!!!!!

5. I love the illogic...
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 09:56 AM by Cassandra
implicit in the freeper position: that Plame was a desk jockey nobody who somehow had the power to order that her husband be given the assignment. :eyes: Illogic never stopped a freeper.
Great article.

I see further down that someone in the comments section made the same argument:
"The wing nuts can't have it both ways. They claim that Valerie Plame was an insignificant desk jockey on the one hand and on the other, she was important enough to initiate a mission like the trip to Niger on WMD. She is insignificant or important, which is it, wing nuts?"

6. a snip
A few of my classmates, and Valerie was one of these, became a non-official cover officer. That meant she agreed to operate overseas without the protection of a diplomatic passport. If caught in that status she would have been executed.

The lies by people like Victoria Toensing, Representative Peter King, and P. J. O'Rourke insist that Valerie was nothing, just a desk jockey. Yet, until Robert Novak betrayed her she was still undercover and the company that was her front was still a secret to the world. When Novak outed Valerie he also compromised her company and every individual overseas who had been in contact with that company and with her.

7. The great irony here is that the law was pushed by Bush Sr.
The right wing is out to destroy/remake the judicial system.
They are the honor and integrity party.
They then flaunt, mock, and attempt to destroy the legal case that falls under this law to protect their key brain by telling gross lies.

The word scoundrel does not fit.
The word criminal fits - The are co-criminals.

Why would they work so hard to destroy in the press something that is going on in the courts. It is a blatant appeal to the barely educated - that part of the base who will believe their lies.

Victoria Toensing and Joe DiGenova have sunk to new lows.

This guy Johnson needs to be thanked.

This is how those dogs in the White House treat someone who has given everything to their country. Her and her husband are both patriots and the dogs in the White House would have you think otherwise....

11. Who Cares?
To the Republicans who continue to bring up the issue of Wilson's wife getting him the job I say who cares. Whether Wilson's wife recommended him for the job or not that does not matter. The thing that matters is that the information that he gave was accurate.

Bush is trying to destroy the "facts for decision makers" CIA in favor of a covert "destroy democracies world-wide" CIA.

17. Yes - everyone must shout the facts - they will do anything for their
agenda.

Honor and Integrity. Back to the White House.

39000 Iraqis dead.

Their slush fund must be running out so they cut benefits and programs to make sure Halliburton and Kellogg Root rake it in.

What filthy hands they have.

15. Egads!
Do you all realize how many national secrets we would have to give up before we convinced the right-wing that Valerie Plame was an active spy? Rove showed absolutely no restraint in using classified information for political purposes. How can that not be a national security breach?

20. The danger that arises from a CIA outing:

21. Excellent.
Very clear and gets to the point. The trouble with the RW and their "talking points" is that they always serve to muddy the waters, because when you're on that side of things, the waters need to be muddied so people can't see you for what you are. Too often, there are simple, straight forward ways to cut through their (to put it nicely) balony, yet we (myself completely included) get caught up in their fibrous trap and respond to them instead of just calling it what it is -- spin, lies, and garbage intended to confuse the issue.

This article is quite short. Why don't you edit your post and add either the entire copied article, or pertinent paragraphs. More people will read it if they don't have to link.

23. Read this : Ex-CIA agent statement :
By Larry Johnson
From: TPMCafe Special Guests
The misinformation being spread in the media about the Plame affair is alarming and damaging to the longterm security interests of the United States. Republicans' talking points are trying to savage Joe Wilson and, by implication, his wife, Valerie Plame as liars. That is the truly big lie.

For starters, Valerie Plame was an undercover operations officer until outed in the press by Robert Novak. Novak's column was not an isolated attack. It was in fact part of a coordinated, orchestrated smear that we now know includes at least Karl Rove.

Valerie Plame was a classmate of mine from the day she started with the CIA. I entered on duty at the CIA in September 1985. All of my classmates were undercover--in other words, we told our family and friends that we were working for other overt U.S. Government agencies. We had official cover. That means we had a black passport--i.e., a diplomatic passport. If we were caught overseas engaged in espionage activity the black passport was a get out of jail free card.

25. He did not just out Plame, he outed the
job Plame was doing, so essentially he caused this country harm by stopping an undercover operation on WMDS.

They make us less safe by their actions....
