Help us change primary schedule

Let's face it, John Kerry was selected by Iowans. While I bear no ill will against the good people of Iowa, I think it's fair to say that their choice didn't work out all that well in the end. Next time, it might be nice if some more states had a voice in the matter...

TO that end Democratic party leaders will be meeting in DC on the 16th to discuss the 2008 primary. At least one of the members, Senator Carl Levin of Michigan, is publicly fed up with the system and wants to agitate for change.

This is a potentially good opportunity to get the powers that be to consider electoral plans that don't discriminate against everyone who dosen't live in IA or NH.

I'm a big fan of the American plan, which has progressively larger numbers or randomly selected states voting for the POTUS in subsequent weeks. A good explanation is below:

<http://www.ops-alaska.com > (here it's called the 'California' plan.)

So Michiganders, contact Senator Levin's office and urge him to support the American plan.

If you call, ask for the LA who handles electoral reform issues, and then ask that your comments be sent to that person. If you write a letter I suggest that you include a printout from one of the links above.
