Abrahmoff Cohorts Flee To Israel!
Abramoff duo quits U.S.
By Josephine Hearn

Two former associates of Jack Abramoff, the embattled lobbyist, left the country Monday night en route to a new life in Israel. The relocation comes as a Justice Department taskforce presses forward with an investigation into potential criminal wrongdoing stemming from Abramoff’s business dealings.

Sam Hook and his wife Shana Tesler both worked with Abramoff at the law firm, Greenberg Traurig. Hook served as the registered agent for Grassroots Interactive, a lobbying venture tied to Abramoff that has reportedly been subpoenaed by the Justice Department taskforce.

Tesler, a lawyer, worked with Abramoff at Greenberg Traurig and then followed him to the lobbying firm, Cassidy & Associates, after he was ousted from Greenberg following news reports of his questionable dealings with Indian gaming tribes.

9. That's why Meyer Lansky 'retired' there
He would have been able to stay there, too, but the Israeli government decided that he hadn't actually retired from his 'bidness'.

17. Actually They do extradite
The limiting factors are:

the death penalty is sought

the statute of limitations has run out

the person sought has been pardoned

the extradition of the requested person would subject the person
to a second trial for the same offense in the requesting state;

the person will be tried for offenses other then those for which
he will be extradited;

the request arises from racial or religious discrimination; or
the request involves a fiscal, military or political offense.

Sheinbein would have faced the death penalty, which is one of the
reasons why they refused to extradite him.

19. sorry I don't buy it
just sounds like a lot of bureaucratic legaleze that lets them decide when they will agree or refuse extradition.

I am not very well informed on the matter so I'll take your word for it.

22. Not that hard to find
I just did a search on Yahoo for it.

And yes, it's bureaucratic legal mumbo jumbo, but there is an extradition treaty between the United States and Israel.

3. Good ridence, I say. We don't need people like them in our country.
It's enough to have the Bush administration and most other Republicans.

5. Sounds like the Abramoff scandal is getting ready to blow?
And, we should remember Abramoff is almost as important as Rove. He and his buddies have been part of the "Vast Right Wing Mail Campaign" that has funded the Right Wing along with the Think Tanks and other big Honcho's like Scaife. But, Abramoff and his Christian Coalition buddies are the workhorses...the Criminal Enterprise that works to keep their Talking Points in constant distribution.

Must mean we are heading into more interesting times...

7. if people left town...
to the middle east, there will be no trial, they'll lay low until DeLay gets re-elected and then return home as heroes.

By then all the lawyers, judges and prosecutors who were willing to pursue the case will - have died, been fired or retired.

Justice will be served upon all of us for daring to question Tom DeLay's integrity.

8. The Chicken Are Starting To Roost
Koko, it doesn't take much to tie the DSM, Abramoff, Wilson/Plame and other scandals together...and it would be delightful if they all converged.

One name I can link to a lot of this is Morton Blackwell and the other "pranksters" out there who run the slime operations and launder the money for the DeLay and other enterprises. Hillary should feel somewhat vindicated.

But let's not get ahead of ourselves here...this syndicate is elaborate and has rigged the game in their favor. We're finally playing smart...let's stay that way.

Cheers...
