Bushco and CIA are at war over Plame - guess whose gonna win?
Edited on Wed Jul-13-05 02:17 PM by Ugnmoose
I say the spooks win hands down. They have the dirt and they know how to use it when they have to. Outing one of their most important assets - a covert agent is a call to arms. When the battle is over - and it is almost there now, it will be Chimpy, Crashcart, Rover, et al who will wind up the losers.

2. It depends on whether
Porter Goss has completed his purges yet.....

If he has, there aren't enough old school spooks left to pull it off.

6. The good guys at the CIA and those purged will win this battle against
Bush and agents who choose loyalty to Bush over loyalty to the American people.

This battle has been years in the making, but it came forward more quickly because of the Plame case and the blame put on the CIA for intel failures that were actually part of BushInc' scheme for permanent war.

7. So did William Gray in Watergate
It only takes one, but I bet there are alot more who would annonymously spill their guts to get just revenge. Hey this is alot closer to home than the burglary at the Watergate Hotel. This is endangering the lives of their own people for political advantage.

16. And I think it's been purged, top to bottom. I agree -- I fear the CIA...
finally met its match in the Bush cabal.

20. Porter Goss has been frozen out. Don't know if that has any bearing.
He's a Republican hack, but Bush disinvited him from coming to the briefings. He likes his new boy DeathSquad Negroponte better.

5. The Bushs have a long history and deep connections in CIA
I hope you are right, but I suspect it is a rather knottier ball of worms.

8. I suspect...
...that Poppy is pulling every string he has remaining at the Agency and is calling in every old marker just to keep Junior in the game. Otherwise, his presidency would have ended on the day that he blamed the CIA intelligence for the SNAFU.

And Goss has already been made irrelevant by Negroponte, hasn't he?

9. Well, I thought the CIA was going to smack down Bushco 3 years
ago, so what do I know? the CIA sure has been slow out of the starting gate. Another year of this idiot in charge and there won't be a way to fix the damage.

I sure as hell wouldn't cross them, if my daddy HAD been the head of the organization before.

11. well, I'm still waiting for the fight to start
Doesn't look like the CIA has done anything yet, but of course that's no indication of their progress.

12. I think BushCo misunderestimated folks' loyalty.
Contrary to what has apparently evolved into popular opinion, most Americans really do hold the interests of their country above their loyalty to a corrupt administration.

14. Didn't they just 'purge' the CIA of people that were there when the Plame
story happened? Perhaps that was in preparation for a CIA war with Bushco. over this issue. I hope there are still enough 'disgruntled' agency people in positions to dish out the dirt you speak of.

15. All agents suspected of working with Kerry were purged in November.
This battle was many years in the making.
