From Arizona: A dog falls 15-20 feet into a hole in the ground. As the firemen give much needed oxygen to the poor pooch the owner stands by, thankful for the quick responsiveness of the emergency team. A real national headline gripping news story.

Bah!!!

How do these people stay in business with stories of little national news worthiness being continuously pawned-off as national news?

I am at a loss to understand why any corporation would pay good money to advertise with these people.

Here is what I think. I think the owners of Faux purposely expect a net loss in profit in the broadcast portion of the corporation, just so they can be a propaganda outlet for the Republicans. And the owners of Faux really make their money in other ways that are dependent on the Republican government largess.

Who is writing their paychecks? No one watches the cable news channels, so it can't be about ratings! Let's investigate why these faux news channels are still on when no one watches them!

6. There is one thing I discovered though, by accident

If I set-up my sound on the TV to recieve the alternate sound source, I recieve a weather broadcast. It sounds like a FAA system announcing the weather, maybe for pilots. I wonder if Fox is getting money from the FAA or maybe the government national weather agency, whoever they are, to play a continuous voice only weather broadcast.

7. It's simple.

There is a huge segment of the population that wants to be entertained. All the time. If they have to think too hard, they change the channel.

That's why fluff like this dominates the airwaves while important news is either not reported or buried in a 2-second soundbite.

And as for the advertisers, they're reaching a huge market. I'd be shocked to find out they were taking a loss. I really think you're being overly idealistic and giving viewers too much credit.

they wouldn't have the advertisers. End of story. Those decisions are made by hard numbers.
