What will happen when the next Abu Ghraib pics come out?

It's nine days away and if if they are splashed all over the place like the others were, you can bet something will happen. Will there be a backlash in the Arab world?

What about the American people? Can they take seeing and hearing about children tortured?

Will this be the thing that shakes the fabric of this country to its core and people see the folly of waging an ideological war?

1. I'll believe those pics are coming out

when I see them.

I hope they do come out, of course. I hope they make people mad as hell. We'll see.

3. Muslims may get upset but most..

Amerikans will shrug and the next sensational news story will get their attention for a day or so unless it's about missing pretty young ladies or some celeb in trouble.

...I think Bush and company including the military are hoping for some big distraction before they release them. I guess this last delay was that they wanted to do more air brushing of the shots.

4. Maybe the pictures will take the heat off Rove

They'll try to keep juggling the scandals. Don't think they can do that for three more years, with or wothout the media's help. Even the Supreme Court nominations raise thorny questions if Rove is potentially involved in any case coming before the court. Gonzales' first major decision might involve his recusal (or will he be a fellow conspirator?). The buzzards are circling.
