Since when did Joe Wilson become "discredited" and a "liar"...
I come home tonight and I hear that a couple of times? Are we now to believe that Niger did have yellowcake going to Iraq and that the Italian memo was not a fake? And Joe Wilson, an authority on that part of Africa, did not know who he was talking to or what he was talking about? We are to believe who???

3. Just today he became that
funny huh?

I guess they figure they have NOTHING to lose but everything, so they might as well give up all credibility and try to force this lie down everyones throat. It worked so well all those times before...

7. It's from the hot-off-the-press Rove talking points, courtesy of the GOP.
Of course, George WMD Bush isn't discredited and a liar.

10. He isn't
The Italian memo was a fake.

The British MI6 claims to have seperate intel re: Niger and Uranium, but as to the truth of it, who can say ?

In the end, Iraq did not aquire Uranium from Niger. Whatever lapses there are in Wilson's story, the fact is he got it right in the way that counts. Saddam did not aquire Uranium from that country, despite what Bush/Cheney would like you to believe.

Saddam Hussein had no nukes.

15. This is getting more and more unreal, isn't it ?
I don't think the Justice Dept is buying it either.
Lying is the only option they have now.

Eventually, sooner or later , this whole house of cards is going to come down.
Confabulation only goes so far. Even the MSM is starting to pile on.
Would not want to be Scotty-mouth these days.
by the way, welcome to DU. :hi:

16. Thanks for the welcome
I actually feel a bit sorry for Scotty. The offense happened before he was on the job. He's left to hold the bag. Best thing for him would be to resign, wanting to spend "more time with his family" ;)

18. Like a moth to the flame, I guess.
but I don't feel that sorry for him. I'd soon as try to be a white house flack for Warren G Harding or Hoover. Ron Zigler probably had his private moments when he was not all that fond his job defending Nixon either but he comes from a proud tradition of political opportunists that gravitate to whom ever is in power.

Now he gets to pay the price for alliegance to the worst president ever. He will never live this down. I wonder if he has his lucid moments and the mouth of Sauron.
I doubt it. No I do not feel sorry for him anymore than I felt sorry for Goebbels - only J.G was crazier and better educated.

but this time it isn't working because their arguments are laughable, and either way it doesn't get rid of the fact that laws were broken by the administration.

First rule of PR is 'never try your case in public' - the fact that they are doing so tells us that this goes much deeper than meets the eye. It is a diversion that hopes to create public opinion enough on their side that Repukes in Congress feel it is safe to pressure the GJ investigation to close shop. Otherwise, Congressional pukes won't do so and it is their only hope to end the fiasco before the deeper issues are connecting and brought to light.

They want to make this end and there is panic in the air - it just tells us that there us somethng much much deeper that they are trying to avoid. This is not about Rove. This is about a web of lies and manipulations that cover the press, the intel, the lies, etc. All of the issues we've been agonizing over for the last 4 years are connected and the deeper an investigation goes the more will be uncovered.

They are scared shitless and they've got no good options. Lies on top of lies to the piont that now their lies are just very bad jokes.

12. And BTW, the bipartisan senate panel they've been talking about...
...that supposedly proved their assertions about Joe Wilson did no such thing. That inquiry actually found that Wilson's information was consistent with information they had from at least two other highly reliable sources.

They can't deny he was involved, so now they've gotta smear, smear, smear.

At least around here anyway. The fundies are already parroting this crap.

Looks like the bushtapo is mobilizing its "faith based initiates" support network again.
