Amid growing controversy and allegations in the Plame scandal, Senior White House advisor Karl Rove stepped down this afternoon pending a formal announcement shortly from the White House. While Mr. Rove ferociously defends his complete innocence, he said in a prepared statement this afternoon "While I feel in no way responsible for the reprehensible leak regarding Mrs. Plame, I feel it is distracting from the task at hand for this administration... which is to out all gays everywhere."

The full text is expected to be released shortly, as is a statement from wronged American servants Joe Wilson and Valerie Plame.

In an attempt to contact conservative columnist and treason demon Robert Novak for comment, he did not return our calls. One can only hope he is dead or in jail... where the treasonous belong in time of war.
