Ebbers weeps as sentence handed down
By Tim Richardson (trichardson at theregister.co.uk)
Published Thursday 14th July 2005 11:45 GMT

Bernie Ebbers wept in court as he was told he faced 25 years in chokey for orchestrating the world's biggest securities fraud at WorldCom.

The man behind the $11bn (£5.8bn) con that helped make WorldCom "become synonymous with fraud" was visibly shaken when the sentence was handed down yesterday, according to those in court.

4. GOOD! Give the guy a box of tissues and but him on the prison bus!
I'm positive these are tears of remorse but of sorry that he got caught!

6. He Weeped When He Found His Assets Were Seized
I know a bunch about the fraud that went on at Worldcomm and other telcoms through work I was doing in the late 90's. They weren't alone...some of our "finest" financial institutions went along for the ride, approving loans and gimmicks that boggled the mind. Here, a person who missed a couple credit card payments can't buy a house or a car, yet Ebbers and the like ran continuous scams and these banks saw just rubber stamped them. But Ebbers got what he deserved.

The only thing I'm sure Ebbers is upset about is not the crime, but getting caught.

8. The people who lost their jobs due to his fraud weeped too
as they were forced to find less lucrative work, McDonald's, Wal-Mart 7-11...
I know, I had a brother, sister-in-law, a nephew and niece who all worked for World Com.
Only one still works there
