OK...when exactly did Stewart skewer Bernard What's his name in that interview?

I just watched the entire thing online expecting any second to be bowled over by someone from the possible left growing balls.

I considered it a weak interview, and in fact, think the right wing would think doololly did very well in putting forth his ideas.

Stewart was attempting to use Barbara Streisand as an example to show this clown for what he is---but failed miserably by marginalizing her political comments.

1. I too was disappointed

I read that thread with everyone raving about the thrashing that was delivered.

In fact I was so excited I immediately downloaded the entire show (as I usually do every day thanks to the kind soul on usenet that posts them religiously) and watched it during breakfast.

It was entertaining as is usual, but I saw no thrashing.

2. Jon made Goldberg look like a fool, which wasn't hard to do.

jon kept laying it out and Goldberg kept stepping into it. hilarious stuff!! i love how jon kept pointing out that goldberg's 100 people who are destroying america are all democrats and none of them are in powerful positions to do actual damage..

whereas, those in washington d.c. (primarily, the WH) who hold all the power and have been abusing it, are NOT in Goldberg's book.

the repukes have destroyed our economy, divided our nation, and drug us into a war based on lies.. and they keep lying to us EVERY DAY! yet, goldberg reserves his wrath for the "dangerous" ms. Streisand. BWAHAHAHAHAHA!!

3. You might want to watch the interview again. I saw it twice last

night and Stewart handed him his lunch time and again. Goldberg(?) wanted a serious, straight forward interview with unlimited time to spew his hate for all thing liberal and/or Democrat. Stewart called him on the premise of the entire book, his rational on how he decided who was included and Goldberg's partisanship. He show the author to be the a$$wipe that he is. Classic Stewart.

Goldberg (jeez, I hope that is his name) was frustrated and hogtied beyond belief during the entire spot. Stewart was having a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent. Good TV.

If he was to 'skewer' every RW guest, he'd never get any RW guests.

I thought it was a decent, if not great, interview which exposed the book to be the RW diatribe that it is. When I first heard of the book, it was in reference to Roy Moore being one of the 100, and thought the rest must be the RW cabal, Bushco, and the fascist talking heads. Now I know different. And Stewart was not allowing him to do the 'fair and balanced' by picking one leftie and one fascist as his examples, but pointed out that there were what, 3 non-leftists listed on the 100?

So he didn't hit a home run. So what. It was a good base hit in any case.

I agree with you that "Skewering" might not be his job--however, my point was about the DU reaction to the interview.

6. Stewart was brilliant.

Right at the beginning he says, something like, "It sounds like a bunch of guys sitting in a bar saying, 'you know who I hate...?'"

As I said elsewhere, like the great Jack Benny, Stewart can say more with a pause than most can say with a diatribe. There were a couple of pauses by Stewart that screamed, "You are an asshole."

Hard to believe you didn't see Goldberg coming across as a vindictive, immature fool. What more could you want?

7. I agree.

I was giggling by the end, that guy looked so very upset. He was steaming, and even Stewart looked angry. He made sure that he got his point in that people in power are much more likely to be dangerous than artists, and I thought that was great.

I loved when he cut him off about the drunk in the bar: "Don't talk about my dad." That totally threw off his guest, and it was Stewart's from then on out.
