- tax cuts for the rich
- pro corporation
- pro spending
- anti National Health Care
- anti gay
- anti abortion
- anti environment
- pro religion and state

You cant vote on one issue. Because all the other issues will bite you in the ass.

If he were with you on most issues, he would be a democrat.

9. The candidate may agree with you on some points but never forget

he is part of a group that is antithetical to everything a Dem would hold near and dear to their heart. He may talk the talk but he would never, ever be allowed to walk the walk as long as he is a repug. They would withhold funding, spread lies about him, attack his family, etc. until he either is defeated or back in the fold. I will never vote for a republican until a seismic change takes place within the party and those events take at least 20-30 years to occur (and then it would take another 50-60 years for me to forgive them for what they have done to this country). If he is willing to stand up and be named as a repug then he has sold his soul to the devil no matter what his personal views and opinions might be.

12. On an emotional level

I understand what you're saying, Mo. I'm so frustrated with some who call themselves Dems that I think my head's going to explode.

In my congressional district we have a Dem who thinks the answer to the quagmire is to train the Iraqi security forces to take over. Where have I heard that before? He's running against a kiss-ass Repug. The Repug will win, of course, in spite of anything I could do.

But it's damn discouraging being expected to support people who are going to just keep sending our young men and women to die, and perpetrating the deaths of innocent Iraq citizens so Halliburton can get even wealthier. I don't care if they have the best of intentions.

I've been told I should work for the local Dems. Just don't have the stomach for it anymore. I'm tired of the same old, same old, hoping for a different outcome.

On the topic though, there was a time I might have voted for someone like Jim Leach in Iowa (who is a pretty moderate Republican who's voted against the war, etc.), but I think now is the time not to vote for any Republican at all, regardless of how decent a person they might be. They shouldn't keep themselves in a party with the Delays still in charge who will leave no stone unturned to force all of them to do their bidding on important votes. Even Leach voted for the impeachment of Clinton I think. When you see those important votes and how these "moderates" vote, that's where you know their arms are being twisted, and that's why you should say to them in effect, "I'd vote for you for you as a person, but I will never vote for you as a Republican. Leave the party NOW!"

17. I agree in principle with the sentiment

that one should put one's country over party. And I am not opposed to voting for a Republican. But right now I think that the anti-environment stance of the Republican party is what would stop me overall. Voting for clean air and water and a happy future aboard our Planet Earth is of paramount importance to me. Right now the Republicans appear to be the party that doesn't believe in science, i.e. global warming. :eyes:
