Just back from Hurricane Dennis evacuation. Did I miss anything?
:sarcasm:

Rove... going DOWN!!

Cheney... even LOWER!!!

And I can't believe what I've heard from the WH Press Corps!! WOOHOO!!

Of course, there's my house. We got the worst of the eye, and had moderate house damage and major tree damage. It was worse than Hurricane Ivan for us, and that was my worst storm ever.

But the rest of the news makes me feel a little better!

2. Well, good luck with getting your life back together.
As far as the news, it's been WHAT, WHO, WHERE, WHEN and most importantly, WHY from the media.

It's been the ususal from the WH....blah, blah, ongoing investigatin, blah, no comment, blah, blah, blah......

3. Well, hopefully you missed Hurricane Dennis--that's kind of the point
of an evacuation. :-)

6. We're watching it, believe me. but it appears to pose us no threat.
The NHC is pretty darned accurate about these things lately, despite the sometimes perception that they aren't. I remember after Charley, the media was asking "how could they get it so wrong?" when it hit Punta Gorda and not Tampa. But that was only a few degree difference and it was coming from the south at such an angle that a few degrees could mean hundreds of miles.

But the NHC predicted Ivan to within 100 miles 4-5 days out, and were even more accurate for Dennis.

The problem is, 50 miles can make a HUGE difference in how the storm affects you. Or even 10 miles. We were significantly more impacted than even the middle of Pensacola (even a mile or two down the road!) because the eye wall brushed up against Pensacola Bay in my neighborhood. And the eye itself was very small in this one.

7. Glad to hear you are OK
Ironically we bugged out to Pensacola to evacuate from Jeanne last year. Sorry about house and tree damage. I hope you don't have to wait too long for repairs. Looks like a category 5 scandal may be about to devastate the white house, however. :-)

8. Welcome back, Brotherjohn!
Sorry about your house and trees, but glad you guys got out okay.

I assume you have power restored. Air conditioning = a good thing!

The news here should make you almost giddy. If you get a chance, watch the clips from the Daily Show the last couple of days. You'll laugh!

9. I've already seen some (storm and Rove stuff). Funny! We DO have power.
That makes it much better than Ivan, where we lived about 9 days without it. That was really hard on the kids, so that part is much easier this time.
