Senate thread 3 - Reid Vote (the Rove amendment)
Edited on Thu Jul-14-05 05:57 PM by LSK
They are voting on an amendment where if you disclose that someone is in the CIA without permission, you should loose your security clearance.

49. Jay Inslee
talking about what Karl Rove did was wrong whether it was illegal or not. It goes against what a democratic country is about.

laying it out very detailed, talking about the goal of the admin to intimitate but they couldn't imtimidate joe wilson.

Talking how the president has as much said that he isn't going to do anything about it
and what is so sad, is that the attack on wilson is continueing today

it's not easy to point out that what the president has told the american people was wrong.

took a lot of gumption for wilson to point it out and this admin has condoned an organized attack on wilson.

wilson did his job, it was no picnic and did his job and came back and reported about it.

they've conducted a smear against joe and did perhaps worse to his wife .

it's not what we should expect from our president, they/we deserve better

politics are not important

what is is for congress to find a way to prevent this from happening again

congress has to say that presidents can't just wink and say it ok to expose an agent to advance political agenda

it's important this resloution of inquiry and he'shopeful that republican collegues will join him

so far

73. Barbara Mikulski ...... she's in the hospital in Baltimore
Supposedly nothing serious ...

Jul 12, 2005 7:25 am US/Eastern
Baltimore, MD (AP) Senator Barbara Mikulski was undergoing tests at a Baltimore hospital, a spokeswoman said late Monday. Mikulski, 68, was admitted to Mercy Medical Center Monday morning.

"Senator Mikulski is undergoing some diagnostic medical tests at Mercy Hospital in Baltimore," Melissa Schwartz, a spokeswoman for the Democrat, wrote in a prepared statement. "She is expected to be released in a couple of days."

Schwartz would not say what prompted the hospitalization, or what kind of tests Maryland's junior senator was undergoing.

Mikulski was elected to a fourth six-year term in November. She is the most senior woman in the Senate and serves on the Senate Appropriations Committee.

59. This was a great move by Reid. He put the pukes in a lose-lose
situation, and they were forced to show their true colors.

They had no choice but to show the American people that they don't give a rats ass about our national security, and they dont' give a rat's ass about the safety and security of our undercover agents.

Just like they don't give a rat's ass about our soldier's well being.
